Chapter Three: Getting caught up

(Jason's POV)

After getting some food in his system, Jason sat down in the grass of Shrine Hill with Nico and Will and asked for explanations. 

"So where are the rest of our friends?" Jason asked, eating from a bag of chips.

"Leo is in Indiana. Piper is in Oklahoma, and then Percy, Annabeth, Frank, and Hazel are all in New Rome." Nico answered, while sipping some Coke.

"So Percy and Annabeth finally graduated, huh?" Jason asked with a grin.

"Despite all odds." Will replied with a smile. The three of them laughed.

"Oh, and Hazel got promoted to Praetor. Reyna stepped down and became a Hunter." Will said. Nico shifted uneasily at the mention of the Hunters.

"Oh holy Zeus, that's right, I have to let Thalia know that I'm alive!" Jason exclaimed, nearly toppling over.

"Yeah. For now she and the other Hunters are on the move but I'm sure we could get a message delivered." Will assured him. Nico coughed loudly before changing the subject.

"Oh, and Leo has a mechanic shop now. He's teaching kids like him all sorts of stuff I guess." Nico said, clearly wanting to get off the subject of the Hunters. They filled him in on more things, like the Tower of Nero and how Apollo had prevailed, and how Frank had gotten rid of his firewood curse. As they explained, Nico and Will would just casually lean on each other for comfort every so often. It made Jason feel both good and bad. He was overjoyed that Nico had finally found someone who made him happy. The poor kid had been through enough. But then again, it also reminded him of his ex girlfriend, Piper. She had been his first girlfriend. Until she ended it. And although Jason knew why she had done it, and while she assured him that it wasn't his fault, he couldn't help but feel guilty, like maybe he had done something wrong while they had been together. And then he still felt guilty about letting Reyna feel hurt. Even though she was happily a hunter now, that didn't make him feel any less shameful. Jason tried so hard to act like he had it together. But on the inside he was breaking. Jason felt as though he made only mistakes. He had tried to die in the line of duty and sacrifice himself, but he couldn't even do that. Maybe now there would be huge ramifications because he had been brought back. What if something bad happened to Piper? Or Nico? Or Percy? Or Hazel? Or Reyna? Or Leo? Or Annabeth, Frank, Will, Thalia, and everyone else he cared about, and it was all his fault? Jason pondered that maybe, maybe, he should've stayed dead.
