"Yo, Josh my boy, let's go. I'm tryna find a pretty little thing tonight and you're taking too long." A tall brunette said to his roommate.
"Dude chill out it's like 7:30 no one's gonna be there." Josh yelled from his room.
"You know I like to see my options before they get snatched up." The man replied.
"Nick" Josh sighed walking down the hall to the living room "You're a player."
"Well obviously" the man, Nick replied "love is pointless, why get into something you fall out of just as easy?"
"You don't want to ever like settle down?"
"And what have a house in the suburbs and play happy families with a white picket fence? God no, that life isn't for me."
"Okay but what if she's like some super hot skater chick?"
"That doesn't change the fact I'm never going to settle down, that's your future not mine"
"Okay okay," Josh exclaimed, putting his hands up in defeat, "let's go the cabs here."
"Thank god, let's go." Nick replies, as the two friends walk out of the building and into the cab.
To Nick the cab ride was a blur of his own thoughts and emotions, to Josh this was painfully obvious, so he left nick in his own little world lost in thought, as he spoke with the cab driver.
Maybe Josh is right, maybe it wouldn't hurt to find someone steady for a bit. As fun as being with a girl for 3 days tops was; he craved something more, he craved romance, he wanted someone to love, someone who would love him back. But then again, he was only 21, working on his degree in computer science at NYU, he doesn't need anything stable except his job and his school. Love to him, in the simplest words, was complete and utter bullshit.
After the boys exited the cab, paying their driver, they walked into the dimly lit bar, where two girls sat in the corner sipping their drinks.
"See anyone you like?" Josh asks watching Nick scan the bar.
"Yeah" he replies deadest on the unfamiliar black haired girl. "And she has a friend."
