Everyone's cheering because of my success. I just got awarded as the fastest raising tiger in the Asia.
As I'm giving my speech, thanking people who helped me, there, I saw the woman who turned my world.
The great Leni Gerona.
She's laughing with a man and it made me instantly jealous. We broke up 10 years ago because of only one thing.
That woman is crazy.
I was silent for a minute when our eyes locked up. She's looking at me, seductively, while she's playing with her wine glass. I feel the heat in my entire body as I remember how much I love the sex with her.
I had sex with a lot of women but Leni's different. Maybe because she's the only one that I've loved.
But her craziness made me miserable that I couldn't handle anymore. One time, we fought because she picked the most horrible hotel ever during our vacation.
What did she do after that? She bought a five star hotel just to get back on me.
She's irresponsible and immature, I get that we have 8 years age gap but I just couldn't handle it. I need someone who will be as responsible as I am and Leni doesn't fit the criteria. It doesn't matter if I love her the most.
When my speech ended I look for her. I look for her everywhere but she's nowhere to be found.
I went outside to check if she's there. I'm sure that I saw her. She's wearing a sapphire dress, she looks so beautiful.
"Looking for me?" I heard an angelic voice and smile as I turn around. She's still holding a wine glass with her clutch bag. "Hi Leonor" I uttered.
"How are you Ferdinand?" She asked. It made my heart jump as I heard her call me Ferdinand. I missed that.
"Good, good—"
"Yeah, congratulations on your award." She said softly. As I looked at her, I realized that something has changed. "Thank you" I answered.
We glare at each other, waiting for someone to speak again then we both giggled. "I missed you Leni" I said and she smiled, "yeah, I — I missed this also" I frowned as I realized that she did not return my sentiments.
"Would you like to walk with me?" I offered her. She nodded and we began to walk side by side but the distance between us is noticeable.
I saw that she made both of her hands occupied, maybe to avoid holding hands with me. Ghad, I missed this woman!
"Do you still manage the family business?" She asked. "Yes, how about you?" I remember that she doesn't want anything to do with their family business.
They are one of the most wealthiest family in the Philippines. When her dad asked her to train for family business, she refused then her dad got mad and cut her allowances.
As a revenge, she put hot glues on every door of their company building, I mean really sticky glues. It took a whole week to restore the normal operation in their company. Her dad lost millions and just surrender to her.
"I have my own company, an NGO actually" I glare at her. I didn't realize that she has interest in foundation. "Oh that's good, good samaritan ka pala" I joked but all she did was give me a weak smile.
"Are you happy Bong?" She asked and it made me frowned because of her question, "ahm why?" I asked.
"Well, the last time we talked you said that you were unhappy that's why you broke up with me. I'm just hoping that breaking up with me is worth it. That you finally found happiness without me" every word hit me and it's painful.
I fake my smile and said, "yeah, yes I'm happy"
"Then my pain is worth it pala" she whispered, I stare at her and saw the pain in her eyes, "that's good, I'm happy for you Bong"
Looking at her made me realized that Leni's a different woman now. She got more mature and I think more responsible.
"After we broke up, I went to Siargo—"
"And you bought a whole island?" I joke and she laughed, finally I heard her laugh again. "No, I stayed there for a whole year. Binuo ko ulit yung sarili ko" she said. We continue to walk until we reached the garden.
I asked her to sit on the bench and she did, still clutching her bag. "I'm sorry for leaving you Leni" that's all I can say.
She smile and look down. "It's okay, I understand why you broke up with me. I can be too much most of the time"
"Leni, maybe we can start over. Let me make up to you. I still love you" I confessed. I never love anyone as much as I love her.
She just looks at me, "Bong..." she whispered.
"I promise that I will never break your heart again" I added.
"Bong, I cannot be with someone who will only love me when it's convenient for him." I suddenly stop when I heard her say that.
"I need someone who will love me, all of my flaws, all of my imperfections. I need someone who will help me grow instead of leaving me when things get hard. I need someone who will not make me feel like I'm their life's biggest mistake." She paused and I saw tears in her eyes.
"I love who I was but you made me believe that no one will love me because of my flaws. I - I was afraid to love again because of the things you've said. I hurts like hell Bong. It took me a lot of years before I recovered from all of the pain."
By this time, I knew that Leni will never be mine again. That she moved on from me.
"I'm sorry" that all I can say. She finally touch the back of my hand. "It's okay, because of you I made myself better."
I stare at her and then she smile, "that's why I found someone who love me, for me" I literally feel mu heart shattered into many pieces.
We were just starting at each other ...
"Mommy!" Leni remove her hands on me and carry the little girl whose also wearing a gown. "Aika, why are you here alone?" She asked. The little girl looks 2 or 3 years old.
"Daddy's looking for you" she said. Leni looks at me and said, "thank you for making me better Bong and I hope you find the person who will love you more that I did" she said and smile,
"Mrs. Robredo, they are awarding your husband na po" the man in uniform said. Leni nodded and stare at me one last time and smile.
Then she walks away from me.
I followed her and watch the person they are awarding. "Congratulations Mayor Jesse Robredo for your Ramon Magsaysay Award" the man kissed Leni and their daughter before he receive his award.
My heart is happy and breaking at the same time as I look at the woman I love the most with the man she loves.
"Bong!" Someone called me, I turned around and look for that person, it's my cousin, Dawn.
"Oh Dawn, what brings you here?" I asked as I beso with her, "I got an invitation anyway, I want you to meet my friend, Louise Araneta"
I shake hands with her and gave her a smile, "nice to meet you Bong"
"Nice to meet you too Louise"
