When Smokescreen and Bumblebee brought a new cybertronian relic into the base after retrieving it from somewhere in South America everyone gathered in the med bay while Ratchet tried to figure out what it was, each individual having their own theory. (Y/m/n) was standing with the kids at the guard rail, watching as the old medic studied the ancient piece of tech. His guardian and crush, the one and only Optimus Prime, was standing near the human area in case something went wrong; and of course, something just had to go wrong. (Y/m/n) couldn't recall all of what had happened since he was daydreaming when it happened, but the next thing he knew he was taller than everyone in the base, even the Autobots. What actually happened was Wheeljack pushed a button that basically temporarily body swapped Optimus and (Y/m/n).
"Ratchet, what happened? Wait, why do I sound like Optimus?" (Y/m/n) queried, his optics widening when he heard the change in his voice; it was so foreign to him.
"Now (Y/m/n), don't panic, but no thanks to a certain someone your consciousness has temporarily been switched with Optimus'." Ratchet answered calmly, glaring at Wheeljack for a moment while he spoke.
"How exactly long will the effects last?" Optimus questioned from (Y/m/n's) body, feeling extremely short while he looked at his oldest friend.
"The two of you should be back to normal by morning. However, (Y/m/n) will need to spend the night here in the base." Ratchet told Optimus who was in (Y/m/n's) body, managing to keep his cool.
"That's okay." (Y/m/n) vented deeply, completely unused to being in a cybertronian body; if he wasn't careful, he was afraid that he'd fall over.
"I suppose I shall sleep on the couch seeing as there is no other place for me to rest." Optimus added with hesitation, glancing over at the old piece of furniture.
Everyone was quiet for a moment, each one of them trying to wrap their minds around the fact that Optimus and
(Y/m/n) had switched bodies. The Autobots hoped that the Deceptions wouldn't cause any chaos during such a crisis; (Y/m/n) wasn't experienced in battle like Optimus was and Optimus was in no position to fight anyone.
(Y/m/n) felt weird as he stared down at his body, not realizing how tiny he really was until he looked through the optics of his guardian. Optimus was in a similar predicament; he felt so small and vulnerable, but being in his charge's body presented a once in a lifetime opportunity to live the human experience, even if it was only for a few hours. Agent Fowler kept extra food in the refrigerator in his office, so he would be able to try eating some of it."This is so COOL! You guys get to experience what it's like to be each other. Hey Ratchet, can I try it with Bulk?" Miko said with excitement after a few moments, breaking the silence and asking Ratchet if she could swap bodies with her guardian.
"Absolutely not. The last thing we need is for you driving around the base. You don't even know how to drive a vehicle." Ratchet replied gruffly, reprimanding the young girl.
"Okay." Miko huffed in defeat, crossing her arms over her chest and pouting; Ratchet had a point, she didn't know how to drive.
"Now, I suggest it's time for you kids to go home in time for dinner." Ratchet announced out of the blue, looking at their guardians for a moment.
Bulkhead, Arcee and Bumblebee stepped forward and walked out to the main room, transforming so that they could take the kids home. Raf, Miko and Jack bid everyone farewell before leaving the human area, making sure to grab all of their things. Once they were gone, Optimus remembered what June taught him and the other Autobots about humans before he went to go see what there was to eat in the refrigerator. Meanwhile, Ratchet began telling (Y/m/n) what to expect until he switched back to his normal body. (Y/m/n) was thankful he would be back to normal by morning, but he was beyond excited that he was in his hero's body.
__________
Before Ratchet went to his berthroom to recharge he made sure Optimus had a blanket, not wanting his leader to get too cold while he slept on the couch for the first time. (Y/m/n) already bid everyone a goodnight before going to Optimus' room, feeling tired in a different way he wasn't used to. Being cybertronian was so different than he imagined it would be, but he didn't hate it. So, while Optimus laid on the couch with the blanket draped over his body, he couldn't fall asleep as he thought about what happened earlier. He never thought that he'd ever get to experience being human; eating was interesting and he liked the taste of food, but-
