"Ok, I think we're ready." William thought.
"We are both packed now, we can start to the city" Will knew he sounded pretty stressed, but he was hoping Charlie wouldn't notice.
They both felt like bursting into tears. And although they didn't want to show it, they knew they felt it.
"Ok" was all Charlie could say without breaking into a sob.
They had both lost everything
So they started on the walk that would change everything.
〰️〰️〰️
They had been walking for around 5 hours was Charlie's best guess
"I need a break and it's night time, I think we should get some sleep," said Charlie, sounding very tired and griefed.
"Ok, we will stop here tonight" Will replied.
So they put down their bags and rested.
William could see Charlie weeping from where he was sleeping. So he went over to where she was sitting.
Charlie heard him coming and stiffened, she was always so anxious about everything.
But William didn't say a word, just quietly sat down next to her, and wrapped his arms around her.
She didn't say another peep.
〰️〰️〰️
William awoke to a loud crash and realised Charlie was completely spread out on top of him.
"Wow, seriously Charlie?" he thought as he tried to slip out from under her. She was a very messy sleeper.
But to all his effort he still woke her up.
"Will, it's still dark." Charlie said as she stretched and yawned.
"I know Charlie, and I'm sorry, I just thought I heard something."
There was another bang and people yelling. This startled them both.
"Let's go." Will said, running to get his things.
"Ok" Charlie was silently praying that they wouldn't get caught.
"Oi, wat was that"
They went silent.
There was somebody out there. And he had a thick Australian accent.
In the middle of Spain? What was he doing here?
"Stop bein' so scared jack, you ain't never done notin' like dis before ain't ya?" It was a girl.
"No ma'am. But I ain't scared, just take de gems and hurry!"
"Gems?" Charlie whispered, she was confused.
Will could see them from behind a bush.
"How long ave' we been walkin' for, I wanna rest a bit" the man sounded tired.
"Oh hush up! We've been awalkin' for 5 minutes, that way, theres de mine right der!"
She pointed north.
"Cum on! Keep goin'."
They slowly walked of.
"Oh my gosh! Im so glad they didnt see us" Charlie said, begining to move.
"They said so something about a mine, up north."
He pointed "look, I can see it! Over there!"
"Maybe someone can help us!"
"Yeah, lets go"
〰️〰️〰️
They walked to the mine.
"Hello there. Why! What are you young people doing here?" There was a lovely woman, very tall. And she had her hair in braids. Charlie instantly took a liking to her.
"Uh, Hi, I'm Will, and this is Charlie." Charlie smiled then looked away.
"We need help, both of our parents are gone and we're far from home."
The woman looked at them, wondering if she should help them or not.
"Ok, here you go." She handed him a heavy bag. "Take this and be on your way, but don't tell anybody I did this."
"Oh thank you!" Charlie was so grateful they had found the mine.
So they were on their way.
