All Charlie could say was "Where on earth have you been?"
She had been really worried and at one point she thought something was wrong.
But then, him being a strong and healthy 16-year-old, she thought it would be pretty hard for him to get into trouble.
"I'm, I've just been potting around."
"Well don't ever do that to me again, I was scared half to death!"
William took her aside.
"Charlie, I promise I will never leave you alone again, because I love you."
Charlie blushed.
William was always saying things like that to her. And even though sometimes she didn't want to admit it, she loved it.
"Will, don't say things like that until this is over and we can be...Well... You know...."
She looked at the floor.
They intended on marrying each other when they grew up.
"Haha, ok, but we will get out of this soon."
"Ok."
So with her and in his, they headed back to the hotel room.
That night,
William was resting in the one bed they shared and Charlie had already fallen asleep on the lounge chair they had in the apartment.
She was a bit self-conscious about the fact that she kept waking up right next to him.
So she kept her distance.〰️〰️〰️
The next day,
Charlie was roused by William cooking eggs and the aroma was beautiful.
She got up and walked to the kitchen.
"Good morning, and happy birthday!"
William seemed energetic.
"Oh my gosh! I completely forgot it was my birthday!"
It was already 12:oo and Charlie was surprised that she had slept that long.
"I'm gonna go get ready." Charlie said, walking to the bathroom
"Ok, get dressed into whatever is in the bathroom," William said with a grin.
"Okay?"
As she opened the door, there laid a beautiful dress.
It was dusty pink, with a ribbon around the waist, and puffy sleeves.
I was made with layers.
Laying there was a little note saying
"Feliz cumpleaños! mi amor,
Espero que tengas un buen diá
Amor, William."
Meaning,
" Happy birthday, my love.
Have an amazing day.
Love, William."
Charlie was amazed.
She quickly showered and put on the dress, and curled her chestnut brown hair. Gazing at herself in the mirror, she knew she had never looked so beautiful in her life. And she wasn't the only one who thought so.
As she walked out, William stopped.
He started and slowly walked up to her.
"You look beautiful, Charlie."
He looked into her eyes.
Nobody had ever said those words to her before, and suddenly, she couldn't wait to be his bride.
She realised, she loved him. And he loved her.
William cleared his throat.
"Sit and eat then I have somewhere I want to take you."
So they sat and dined.
Charlie noticed that William looked very nervous, but she put off the thought trying not to get her dress dirty.〰️〰️〰️
They walked a little while, everyone eyeing the beautiful girl and the man in a suit.
Wondering where and why they were going, Charlie silently walked.
Now it was very obvious that William was nervous, he was sweating crazy and couldn't talk.
They stopped at a beautiful park and William led her to a secret part through the bushes.
It was an oasis, with a bubbling brook and flowers everywhere. She felt like she was in a movie.
Charlie turned to William.
"Will, this is beautiful, but what's all this for? You look so nervous, are you alright?"
William cleared his throat.
"Yeah! I'm ok, I just want to ask you a few things."
"Ask away Will."
William looked straight in her eyes.
"Charlie, do you love me?"
Charlie stopped, she knew what was happening.
"Oh my gosh! Will, are you proposing? Oh my goodness..."
"Charlie," he looked at her seriously "Do you love me?"
She looked at him and felt something, it was love. She felt love. She loved him and she loved loving him.
"Yes Will, I love you, I love you a lot."
Williams's nervous expression quickly turned to a smile.
"So then,"
He got down on one knee,
"Charlie, will you marry me?"
Charlie burst into tears, clasping her hand on her mouth.
"Yes, yes yes yes! I will marry you!"
She couldn't believe what was happening! She was engaged!
William pulled a ring from his pocket and slid it on her finger, tears streaming down his face.
He got up and Charlie ran into his arms, never wanting to let him go.
The world spun around her and she felt like she was in a dream.
She was in the arms of the man she wanted to be with for the rest of her life.
And she was going to love it.
"Let's go home" Will was so happy he didn't let her go.
And she was carried all the way home.
