Your pov,
Edward and I laughed as we sneaked out of the musical bar hand in hand and onto the streets. Surprisingly, even though this was the land of the dead, it was just like any other normal town, just that the citizens were skeletons and corpses other than that everything was pretty much normal. My eyes hummed in amusement when I saw a skeleton of a horse standing on a stone as if it was like a statue. Meanwhile, Edward smiled, watching me look around this new land.
"I have to admit, I am quite surprised," he started, making me look back at him.
"Mm? About what?" I asked, the two of us continued strolling down the streets in hand in hand slowly, taking our time. "Well, I don't know...I thought that you might get a little scared at this and... you know, all of this," Edward said, motioning his head to his arm where some of the bones are visible and then, the city around us. I smiled, knowing what he was trying to say.
"Well...I might probably have if I was alone. But I am with you and I am not alone so, there's nothing to be really afraid of actually. And you only look a little different from when we last met, but other than that you haven't changed much at all, of course I'm not scared of you. Besides, I think everyone looks quite friendly as well," I said and Edward smiled, tugging me closer to him as he pulled me into his chest and wrapped his arms around me.
"What did I ever do to deserve you, princess?" he mumbled, resting his head on mine and I smile, nuzzling my face into his chest. "You loved me and... even after all these years, you still do like I do...I am sorry I was late," I said, gently putting my hand over his chest and Edward pulled away slightly, his hand gently lifting up my chin to make me look back into his eyes. "You have nothing to apologize for, love. I was the one who failed to keep our promise and left you all alone. I am sorry I wasn't able to come to you," he said, pressing his forehead against mine and continued keeping his arms around my waist as he never broke away his gaze from me.
After listening to Bonejangles's story of Edward, I now know what happened to him while he was coming back to us, but never made it back. He was killed. And all this time, I didn't know a single thing at all.
"It wasn't your fault. You did your best to return me. If there is anyone who should apologize, it should be me. All these years, I never knew what happened to you and I was just sitting around and waiting for you aimlessly. And not only that I almost broke our promise. I am sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me," I apologized, feeling guilt consuming me in my chest as tears started to form in my eyes again.
Edward smiled and cupped my face, wiping my tears away, "Like I said, you have nothing to apologize for, princess. You didn't know and no matter what happened up there while I was gone, I know you didn't break your promise," Edward assured me soothingly, still cupping my cheek and I couldn't even believe at how he's trying to comfort me right now when he doesn't even know the full picture of what almost happened, "How can you say for s-"
"You are still wearing your ring," Edward cut me off with a smile and lifted my hand where I was still wearing the ring he gave me, gently moving his thumb over my fingers. "If you'd broken our promise, you'd have taken this ring off and already be with someone else instead of being here. But you didn't. You're still wearing it and that means you kept our promise. You waited for me just like I waited for you during those five years and then, you found me. You found me and said your vows so perfectly. And now..." he stopped, his ocean blue eyes looked back into my eyes and my heart skipped when I see the way he's looking at me. It was like he was staring deep into my soul and I felt like I belonged again, a feeling which I haven't had for so long, his finger ghosted over my lips and my heart felt like it was about to jump out of my chest when his gaze shifted down to my lips.
