*Warning: Blood and violence mentioned ahead in this chapter*
Five years ago just before Edward's death,
Drops of blood slowly falls to the ground, mixing with the large drops of rain falling from the dark sky above. Edward stabbed his sword to the ground to support himself and tried to steady his breath, feeling exhaustion starting to invade his body. Except from the sound of the rain and his heavy breathing, everything else including his surrounding was almost as quiet as a grave.
As his breathe start to calm down, Edward watched the drops of blood continues to fall and being washed away by the rain which was only starting to grow heavier and heavier every minute. Clothes soaked, exhausted and wanting to make sure that his fella teammates in his knight troupe are all okay, he proceeds to move but stopped and winced when an another fresh wave of pain took over his body, reminding him of the stab wound he has on his stomach. He glanced down to see his wound still bleeding, staining his clothes red with his own blood.
The ambush of the bandits this time had managed to catch them off guard pretty well that at some point, they all got separated during the battle. And while saving one of his closest friend, Raymond, from getting attacked from behind, Edward ended up getting stabbed in the process as one of the bandits succeeded in pulling up a sneak attack with a hidden dagger while he was blocking an attack. And unfortunately, the wound happened to be pretty deep this time.
But Edward wasn't going to let something this stop him, not when he was so close to seeing her again after all this time. He's had it worse before. The image of (Y/n) smiling at him warmly crossed his mind and he couldn't help but smile despite the pain he was feeling.
Just a little longer and he can finally be with her again soon.
Feeling motivated by the thought of seeing her again soon, he took another deep breathe and covered his wound with his free hand. He removed his sword from the ground and was just about to go look for the rest of his teammates when he heard the sound of a twig being snapped from behind.
Putting on his guard immediately, Edward swiftly turned around and pointed his sword in the direction of the noise.
It was silent for a moment and no one came out though Edward was sure that someone was there, the downpour they were caught up in making it harder to see the surroundings.
"Who's there?" he called, not letting down his guard just yet.
A figure started to come out from the trees and Edward tightened his hold on his sword.
"Easy, Edward. It's just me," the figure said, holding his hands up as he came into the view.
Recognizing whose voice it belonged to, Edward start to relax and loosen his hold on his sword, "Oh, Nic. It's just you. I'm glad to see you're all right. Are you hurt?" he asked, watching his friend, Nicholas, shake his head at him as he approached, "Only a few bruises here and there, but I am fine. How about you?"
"I am fine too. What about Ray?" Edward asked again, shaking his head to get himself together and focus on the situation at hand. "I don't know, I got separated with him during the battle at some point," Nicholas answered, his eyes falling over the wound on Edward's waist.
"Don't worry. We'll find him and the rest of the guys as well," Edward assured as he looked around and continued to speak, not noticing that Nicholas was no longer paying attention to what he was saying anymore, his eyes fixed on the wound on Edward's waist.
