A hooded figure could be seen walking briskly in a dark alley carrying a small bundle in their arms. Looking left and right as if to make sure no one is there, the figure disapparated. With a pop, they appeared in a deserted street in front of a modest home in an unsuspecting neighborhood somewhere in London.
Walking up to the door, the figure knocked and waited. It opened a short while later, revealing Kiera Coleman.
The bewildered muggleborn exclaimed, "Wait, why am I there?" One of her closest friends, Genesis, responds, "Maybe you play a vital part in the future."
The hooded figure removes the hood on their head to reveal Minerva McGonagall looking somber with red eyes that looked like she had been crying. She was immediately ushered to the living room by the young witch and they took a seat on the couch.
Too distracted in seeing her former Professor in such a distressed state, she hadn't noticed she was carrying something in her arms.
She worriedly inquired, "Professor, what brings you here this late at night? Did something happen?"
Minerva was astonished, "Ms. Coleman, haven't you heard the news?" She continued, a mournful expression in her eyes confusing the witch in front of her, "You-Know-Who has been defeated."
"Ha! You hear that Wally? You're precious Dark Lord is gone" Sirius yelled to which Walburga sneered at. Remus smacked his head.
"I don't understand." she furrowed her eyebrows. "Isn't that supposed to be great? Why do you look dejected?"
She shifted the bundle in her arms to reveal a baby with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead.
Regulus, horrified at the idea that it may be one, cried out, "Oh Merlin, is it a cursed scar?"
"What?"
"A cursed scar. It's a scar generated by evil magic. Those kinds of scars can't be cured. They can also continue to affect the person infected with them throughout their life, depending on the spell cast," he sighs as a few people ask him incredulously.
"What is Harry doing here Professor?" she questioned with a gasp. With one look at McGonagall's face, she knew. Her chest tightened and her eyes began to tear up.
"No, please no."
"Wait, what happened? Who's Harry?" James exclaimed.
She asked, her breath shaky and her lips quivering, what had happened. Silence descended upon Minerva's completion of her account of what transpired to bring Voldemort to justice. After a few moments, she made the decision to break the eerie silence that had grown between them.
"I brought him here because you're the only family he has left and I couldn't bear to let Albus leave him in some muggle orphanage. I'm so sorry, dear. I know this is a lot to handle."
Seething with rage and shock. "Why would Dumbledore take him to a Muggle orphanage? He knows I'm Harry's godmother."
The statement caused raised eyebrows and accusing and inquiring stares to be directed at the Headmaster who remained silent.
With tears still streaming down her face, she carefully took Harry and cradled him gently to her chest. A little while later, Minerva bade her farewell and informed her that it would be best if Dumbledore remained unaware of her taking Harry, at least for the time being.
Her mind was still reeling from the devastating news as she sat on the couch with Harry still fast asleep, soft heartbreaking sobs filling the deafening silence.
She only managed to repeatedly utter the words, "You're safe now. I'll take care of you, little one," as she looked down at the infant in her arms and kissed his forehead.
