"Take this for the pain, rebandage every day, and come back if the wound re-opens."
You spoke the words you wrote on a notepad, tearing the paper off and handing it to your patient-a middle aged adventurer. He took it, reading it over as if you didn't just say the words. Grabbing your hands and shaking them lightly, he nodded.
"Yes, thank you. You're doing the angels' work," he said, pushing himself off the bed that Nailah had set up before taking his leave. When you heard the door click shut, you took a seat at a desk near the back of the room, letting out a sigh.
True to her word, Nailah showed up at the inn a week after your first meeting. She had managed to secure a building in the harbor and turn it into a medical office. Xiao was quick to disappear when she arrived, and you guessed he didn't have the energy to deal with someone as energetic and extroverted as she was.
Nailah was also quite good at recognizing problems, leaving you with the job of taking care of it. The two of you had developed a sense of rhythm, and working was smooth and rewarding. You, for one, were glad to have gotten into a stable routine and get mora from it as well.
Even better, the people of Liyue appreciated that they had a place to go to when it came to their injuries, seeing as Liyue is not the safest place. Lan from the Adventurer's Guild has sent Nailah a letter of thanks.
Speaking of, Nailah knocked on the door in the midst of you dozing off. She smiled, softly. "Feeling tired?" She asked you, leaning on the frame of the door. You shook your head.
"No, not at all. Today's just a bit slow," you replied, standing up and fixing your appearance. "But that's a good sign, it means everyone is staying safe."
Nailah nods. "Agreed. Well, in any case, the little girl from the pharmacy-Qiqi, was it?-she has a letter here. From the owner of the pharmacy."
Your mind flashed back to Baizhu, his malicious little smile and the mischievous glint in his eyes. Pressing your lips into a thin line, you put your head in your hands. "Did you read it yet?"
Nailah shakes her head, handing it to you. "You've met Baizhu already, right? What do you think of him?"
You open the envelope that contains a small piece of paper, handwritten in neat scribbles. "He's... hm. Odd," you said, taking a glance at the words.
Dear Ms. Nailah,
It has come to my attention that you've sought to set up a medical office south of the pharmacy. This is a great opportunity for a partnership, wouldn't you agree?
I'm sure you'll be needing a multitude of supplies for all of the strange and peculiar ailments you'll be dealing with. For this reason, I have decided that I will sell you my wares for a discounted price of a monthly 600000 mora...
The letter went on, but you stopped there. "You're not agreeing to that, are you? I'm sure I could get anything you'd need anyways."
Nailah shook her head. "We make money, but not that much... now that I think of it, his pharmacy is overpriced, too..."
Nailah speaks on, but you stop listening there. You cared not for Baizhu or his expensive herbs. And you had no intention on involving yourself in trivial affairs like this. And though you knew you sounded like Xiao-or your elder brother, who loved to complain about mortal culture. With a smile, you handed Nailah the letter. "Well, I'm sure whatever you decide to do will work out."
༺♡༻
Nailah left earlier than usual to speak to Baizhu about his letter. As she left, she informed you to close up whenever you felt like it. She also grumbled about something related to making medicine. You raised a brow when the door clicked shut.
