You don't quite know how but you had agreed to accompany Kaeya around the Windblume Festival.

Despite your first impressions of Kaeya, you two got along well and you were aware of his shenanigans so you reassured yourself that you were doing the public a favour by making sure he couldn't get drunk and harass some poor citizen.

The festival was beautiful but it made you feel even worse.

You felt something come up your throat.

You swallowed the petal, shoving your feelings down with it.

Ever since the day in the tavern you had been coughing up more petals and even some whole flowers.

Every night when you were left to wallow in your feelings and the thought of Diluc came into your mind, you'd cough up another petal.

You would have to ask Lisa about this.

"Are you alright Y/N you've been awe fully quiet today." Kaeya said while you sat down near We Ellin's training area.

"Uh... yeah I just need to ask Lisa something I'll be back." You replied quickly running off towards the knights' Headquarters.

"A book on strange diseases? I think I can help you cutie~" Lisa purred handing you a book that looked like it was from Sumeru

"A book on strange diseases? I think I can help you cutie~" Lisa purred handing you a book that looked like it was from Sumeru.

"I have some knowledge in that field though are you looking for anything in particular?" She said her usual flirty tone turning to a concerned one.

"Oh I just overheard someone talk about a disease where you cough up flowers." You said.

"Oh the Hanahaki, it's a kids story." She giggled.

"The story says that if you have it you must confess to your loved one before your lungs fill with flower and you suffocate. If someone is rejected it will kill them." She elaborated handing you the children's tale.

Kaeya waved to you when you sauntered into the courtyard of the church.

You had found what you had needed so the two of you would go to the good hunter.

On your way you passed many happy couples and you couldn't help but imagine you and Diluc celebrating the festival like them......

Wait no! Diluc is your friend
He'd never return your feelings anyways.

*cough* a flower came out of your mouth.

He would never return your feelings, you would die from the Hanahaki disease.

Maybe you should ask Kaeya he's a romance expert.

You both sat at the table and ordered some mushroom skewers and some fisherman's toast.

"Sooooooo Y/N who are you taking to the Windblume dance?" Kaeya asked biting into some toast.

You went red at his question and quickly grabbed a piece of toast to conceal the petals that you were about to cough up.

"You should go with Diluc, you two get along and he treats you the way the old Diluc would, so cherish that." He said winking at you.

You weren't fast enough to conceal the flowers and some of the leaves that you coughed onto your plate.

Kaeya was shocked but still kept his cool.

You nodded realising that in order for you to survive you would have to go to the dance with Diluc and confess.

You would have to ask him to it in the next 3 days.

"Kaeya how do I ask him?" You said wiping away some of the blood that came with the flowers, it had tricked out the side of your mouth when you swallowed down the petals.

"Diluc is a hard nut to crack, even I don't know how to approach him with something like this." He said sipping his drink as he reclined back in his chair.

"Approach him when he is more vulnerable or when you two are enjoying a nice moment." He said after staying silent for a while.

You pondered it for a while but you decided to let yourself rest and just enjoy the festival.

You fiddled with the Hanahaki book Lisa had given you as Kaeya nattered on about alcohol.

The festival was beautiful, if life had the capability to be this pretty then Diluc better not reject you.

You wouldn't blame him if he did, you weren't the smartest or the most devoted person in Mond.

Plus confessing to him after all this time wouldn't only ruin your friendship but your friendship with Donna, that weird girl who had a thing for Diluc.

But you would at least try.
