Three months until the year was over, Mrs. O'Learry was sitting at her desk in the front of her muggle studies class.
"I have decided that this year, I will not be giving a N.E.W.T exam."
This caused cheers to errupt around the room from the 8th year class. Because there was not enough room to fit the students into other classes with their respective houses. All 8th year students shared classes.
"Instead I am giving you a MANDATORY project to take place of the exam. We have already gotten permission from each of your parents so do not think you can make up an excuse. This year as a final project, groups of four, accompanied be two adults or "supervisors" if you prefer, will be spending two months attending a muggle high school in either England or America."
"What-"
"No-"
"That's not fair!"
"You can't make us!"
Half of the class was yelling in protest, others were either excitedly talking to their friends or staring blankly in shock.
"ENOUGH!" Mrs. O'Learry's voice boomed across the class instantly creating a tense silence so thick in the air that it would easily be cut by a knife.
"My decision is final and you will either do the project or fail and come back next year! Now. Some parents were gracious enough to offer groups to stay in their homes in the muggle work during your stay. You will all be given a journal at the end of class. You are to add a new entry at least three times a week. Now I will be telling you your groups, which adults will accompany you, and where you will be going."
In the back of the classroom sat one Boy-Who-Lived smiling brightly to himself. He had made sure he would get to stay with his childhood friend Raven. She was the first friend he ever had. They had lived down the street from the Dursleys. One night someone broke into their house and killed her parents while she was asleep along with taking some of the family's valuables. She was later adopted by an American family and they took her too America with them. He hadn't seen her in forever and was only able to stay in contact with phone calls all summer and rare visits. (She is a witch too btw I just don't know where to add that in)
******FLASHBACK*******
An eight year old Harry Potter slowly and cautiously shut the front door behind him. He had accidentally dropped a plate when duddley pushed him while he was doing the dishes. The plate had broken and he had received one of the worst beatings he's had yet and his uncle was so mad he forgot to lock the cupboard door before stomping his way upstairs. He didn't know where he was going. But he had to get out of that house even if it was just for tonight. Tears started streaming down his cheeks and they would not stop. He started running expecting to find himself lost. Instead he was at the playground just down the street from the house. Even more surprising, there was someone else there. Sitting on the swing. A small petite little girl about his age, mindlessly staring into space. She had jet black hair as dark as the night sky. Suddenly she looked right at little Harry. Big round eyes that were more blue than the purest ocean seemed to stare right through him.
"Hello." The small girl said in a slight high pitch voice. "I'm Raven. Raven Faustus. Who are you?"
Harry awkwardly came over and sat on the swing next to Raven. "I'm Harry. Harry Potter." Suddenly the girl was off the swing and in front of Harry, with a goofy grin across her face. She held her hand out to Harry.
"Okay Harry! Let's be friends!"
"O-okay..." Harry hesitantly shook her hand. He had no idea how to be friends with someone, he's never HAD a friend before. But he instantly felt better. And he went home sneaking in as quietly as possible and for the first time ever, went to sleep with a smile on his face.
*****END FLASHBACK******
Harry hadn't realized how long he had dozed off until the last two groups were being called."Ronald Wesley, Theodore Nott, Susan Bones, Seamus Finnigan. You will be attending Maple Walk School in London, accompanied by Mrs. Weasley and Myself"
Ron was NOT going to enjoy this. He had to live with a slytherin for two months! And with his mother! He loved the woman she gave birth to him and all but it's his mother!"Last group is Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zambini, Harry Potter, and Draco Malfoy. You will be attending Ashford High in Michigan, America. Accompanied by..." Mrs. O'Learry could barley contain her laughter. They had run out of adults able to watch over the kids so she had desperately convinced one Severus Snape to go a long, he, being who he is forced his childhood friend Lucious Malfoy to fill in the final slot. "Professor Snape and Mr.Malfoy"
All four members of the group groaned and slumped back in their seats.
'Great just GREAT!' Harry thought to himself. 'Well at least I'll get to see her again.
