Granny's was in the midst of its usual morning routine, serving people who were having their breakfasts at the diner or picking up things before heading to work. Emma had decided on having breakfast there because there was not much time to spare for them.

Today Mr. Gold would be released and since the lock on the front door of the Gold house was fixed, it was time for Winter to move back in.

That morning was mostly spent in packing her things back in her suitcase, searching all over the loft to gather everything. They were running out of time and making breakfast proved too much of a hassle.

The front door opened and Mary Margaret entered, holding her coat over her arm and in the other a clipboard. She was smiling brightly as she tries to get the attention of the guests. "Excuse me. Can I have everyone's attention please?"

The diner grows silent as everybody reluctantly interrupts their conversations to look at her. Winter quickly glances around the room. She notices most look with a certain disinterest at Mary Margaret. As if they wished she would stop talking, the hazel eyed girl recognises.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your morning, but I just wanted to remind everyone that a very special occasion is upon us. Miners Day. As always, the nuns of Storybrooke are hoping that everyone will get involved and will help sell their exquisite candles. All we need are a few energetic volunteers. So who wants to join me?"

It was silent for a second, but soon after Mary Margaret was done speaking everyone returned to their conversations and food. No one wanted to sign up and it made the brunette teen feel sad for Mary Margaret, who only wanted to do a good thing and support the nuns.

Winter turns her head back to look at Emma. "Wouldn't you want to volunteer," she asks the sheriff. Emma shakes her head. "Not interested and no time. How about you?" The teen lowers her eyes and shrugs her shoulders. "I don't want Mary Margaret to think I join out of pity for her."

Emma lifts the corner of her lip in a sympathetic smile. She then catches a glimpse of her watch and her eyes widen. "Oh kid, we need to hurry up. They're expecting us at the station." The sheriff throws some money on the table to pay for their food.

The blonde puts on her coat while Winter was already buttoning up her mantle coat. But then they see how upset Mary Margaret looked when she left and they decide on going after her. They catch up with her and see she was indeed very much upset.

"So what the hell is Miners Day and why are you beating yourself up over it?" Mary Margaret looks down for a second. She explains what Miners Day was for Storybrooke, an old tradition in which the nuns made candles and traded them with the miners for coal. Winter heard this story a few times before and found it a nice cause for celebration each year.

Nowadays it was not much for the mineworkers anymore but more like a fundraiser for the nuns of the convent. Winter loved the cozy atmosphere, but Mr. Gold did not like it. He didn't seem to like the nuns either, so perhaps that was a part of it. Ms. Blanchard tells Emma that everybody loves it, but that they don't like her anymore and refuse to help.

Emma finds that a bit absurd, but Mary Margaret proves her point by pointing out how she had ten volunteers last week and none now, some even outright telling her that she was the reason they quit.

Winter found it incredibly sad that all the good that Mary Margaret had done for the town was now all overshadowed by this incident with David, while he was just as much in the wrong as she was. Perhaps it was best that they were no longer together, Winter thinks to herself in silence.

Though she did not believe that love ruins someone's life like Mary Margaret claims. This was just a cycle of bad decisions, but love in itself could be the most beautiful thing in the world.
