Anthemoessa, an island consisting its lucsious flora, rocky mountains, and intriguing creatures. It's also well known for its inhabitants called Sirens, a species consisting of the human body, but have the wings and legs of a bird. They lived in caves within the mountains where they raised their young and taught them how to fly. Between the mountains stood a civilization that can only be accessed through flight.
For their food, they relied on the resources within the island. Some from the crops, orchards, and livestock from their local farms, others from game and fish during hunting season (mostly with their talons). For their clothes, the material was collected from the same crops, livestock, and game all used to sew their clothing. While the spring and summer clothing consisted of linen, silk, and cotton harvested from the crops and the silk moths through sericulture, the autumn and winter clothing consisted of wool and hide from their livestock and from their game. The island’s mines consisted of vibrant gemstones,(such as diamonds, rubies, pearls, sapphires, and emeralds), and various minerals (such as copper, gold, silver, and platinum) which can formed into jewels and currency. All of these items could also be retrieved from local market square, which can only be bought through their currency, Antha.
For their education system, young sirens started school from age 5 to 18 years. They were taught about how the island of Anthemoessa works, their existence, how to write and speak the language, and their alphabets. They were also taught not to wander to other islands as there were many dangers and what to do if an outsider approach the island.
Sirens had their fair share of leisure time. For music, they played various instruments such as the lyre, the panpipe and the xylophone, and used their vocals to sing, besides luring intruders. Sirens also had many dances that our ancestors learnt before residing in Anthemoessa, whether it's the Hasapiko, the Tsamiko or the Kalamatianos. However, our most popular dance known as sky dancing which requires our wings. These can all be performed during concerts and plays to entertain the masses at the Ten Sisters theatre, named after the first Sirens, most notably Peisinoe(the leader), Aglaope (the brains), and Thelxiepeia (the negotiator).
Anthemoessia’s sports consisted of a pool where they can soar across to play catch the flag and an arena that requires one’s wings which could be found at The Sirenium Arena and Pool.
Because Anthemoessa is a beautiful place, that also means that it's well protected from the outside world. Some pass the island without caution, while others try to reach the island in hopes of claiming and extorting the island. Because sirens were well known for luring people with their vocals until their prey met their doom, both Greek and Roman officials each passed a law not only to prevent outsiders from reaching the island, but to protect the sirens and the resources on the island. While Greek officials enacted the Eídos (Species) Protection Act, while the Roman Officials enforced the Divieto Di Terra (Land Prohibition) Law.
But all this would change thanks to a fishing trip.
