Jeong Saein's dreams were filled with glittering jewels, blinding heaps of gold, burning white crowns fixed atop her head, and deformed gargoyles of white marbles with bloodstained baby breaths as a terrifying backdrop. A disturbing mixture of her favorite and least favorite dreams, molded together in confusing chaos. And against the chaos, a silhouette of a human was formed. Of whom she couldn't tell. Something in her gut squeezed at its presence as it burned itself into her mind.
"Your Highness."
"Five more minutes, Mom."
"Your Highness!"
"Ah, okay, I'll go to work. Just lemme sleep for five more minutes."
"Your Highness, wake up! It is I, Lord Park Jimin." A huff and a slight pinch.
Saein burst from her sheets. "Got it! Got it! Work— uh, what?"
The sight of a man's form looming over her was enough to trigger her scream but no sound made it past her lips as the moonlight shone down on his face and she caught a glimpse of its sheer beauty.
"Wow..." She breathed blinking in amazement as she drank in his features. The gentle face, plump parted lips, clear brown eyes, and hair as soft as silk. Saein swallowed. Where have you been all my life?
Recovering herself in a smooth move of her hand to brush her bangs aside while the other discreetly wiped the drool off her face, Saein ruffled the midnight shock of her hair, a leisurely smirk crossing her lips as she side-eyed the man in front of her. "Hey, what's poppin'?"
Lord Jimin looked tense. "Your Highness, Seokjin has disappeared."
"Sock—who?"
"Seokjin," Jimin replied urgently, wide eyes fearful. "Our man on the western borders. The lead of the revolutionists. Are you alright, Your Majesty?"
Briefly, Saein recalled Yoongi's explanations of what little he knew about the revolution. "Oh, oh, Suckjin, I remember him. How did he disappear?"
"We don't know how. His wife claims that he went out one dusk as usual for his walks and never returned. She's very concerned. I had sent out Xel and Leph to look for him but there's no trace. It's been three days..." Jimin informed his lips set in a grim line.
Saein scratched the back of her head, "I see..."
"Something feels odd about it. Your Majesty, do you think it's Highland Lords or the Kims? Do you think they have found out our plans?"
"No way...eh... I don't think so." Saein wasn't sure about that assumption but she couldn't betray her identity to the one and only close person of King Suga. Jimin nodded his head, mildly pacified.
"What do you propose?" he questioned.
"Keep looking? I mean, ahem, I'm sure he will show up." Saein resisted the urge to shrug, arranging her face to imply an air of seriousness. "I believe in Suckjin. So let us have faith, Lord Park Jimin. He'll return, I'm sure."
Jimin sighed, slowly shaking his head. "Yes, Your Majesty. I have assigned Leph to look out for a sign. Surely, we'd have news."
"There. That's all, you don't have to worry. Everything will be just fine," Saein drawled, giving a friendly slap to his back, making the poor Lord wince. Though Jimin had enough manners to not show his displeasure to the king, he couldn't resist the urge to rub his sore back.
"I hope it will be. Something about this makes me worry. There might be enemies we don't anticipate, waiting to sabotage us, Your Majesty. You must be careful. Our kingdom needs you."
