A/N: Before we begin; I honestly forgot to upload this fic to Wattpad, so if you saw my TikToks about it I'm very sorry, I've been uploading to AO3. Also in this fic there is violence, language, implied sex and death.

Luckily there are 4/6 chapters to post atm, so you don't have to wait as long for updates.

14th of October 1981

"James, I must insist you leave. Trust me, this is for the best."

Dumbledore was starting to get on his nerves.

In September, James, Lily, and Harry, had been forced into hiding. Shortly after, Dumbledore had firmly suggested that the Potters use the Fidelius Charm on someone they trusted. That someone was Sirius Black, James' best friend and appointed brother.

It was a stressful departure from Potter Manor to Godric's Hollow. Not because of the decrease in size, or because muggles lived in the town. Fleamont and Euphemia Potter had taken ill - Dragon Pox- and had passed on just last year. James was still grieving the loss of his parents, before being forced away. It had taken quite a toll on both parents, more so for James, due to that fact.

Uprooting their whole lives -away from their families, and the friends they had made throughout their years at Hogwarts- was a difficult feat, for James and Lily Potter were still new parents. Harry could not be more unaware at fourteen months old, and yet he acted so different in Godrick's Hollow. The toddler was restless at night, in the new house, and Lily was having trouble sleeping because of it. James rarely slept. He was in a constant state of anxiety, worried for the lives of his wife and son everyday.

Today was no different.

"I cannot leave them here alone!"

James' outburst was sudden, but predicted.

Dumbledore remained calm, keeping his voice steady, in spite of James' rising temper.

"No harm will come to them. Your secret keeper remains... Obsidian."

Obsidian. Sirius' codename.

"Yes, and as much as I love and trust Si- Obsidian... I will not leave the two people I love most on this Earth alone. There is a maniac out there looking for us, for Merlin's sake!"

A glass vase shattered on the shelf behind James' desk. He looked over to the mess in shock, his anger wavering slightly. Performing accidental magic had stopped after his first year attending Hogwarts, where he learned to control it with a wand. But now, with his heightened emotions he was losing control, there was an overflow of powerful magic coursing through his veins. It made his ears buzz gently, and his arms felt like they were floating.

With a gentle flick of his own wand, Dumbledore quickly restored the vase back to its original form and guided it back into place using a levitation spell. When the wand had lowered down by his robes, Dumbledore took a small and careful step closer to James.

"I know this. May I remind you that it was me who informed you. Please do not doubt me now James."

The soft words of Albus Dumbledore unfortunately calmed James' mood. The tension in his shoulders released as he rolled them in backward motions. He had not wanted to give up so easily, not when Harry, his only son, and Lily, the mother of his child, were depending on him. But he was so tired. Exhausted even. Hiding away in a war, while everyone you love is at risk because of you. James couldn't bear the guilt any longer.
