Heyyy so basically this is just a small rewrite of that one scene in the siege of macindaw with wills and the Scotti where he nearly died
I kind of always wanted this to go... less well (no hate to will i love him I just need angst) and I figured - why not write what I want to see?
So anyways - the whole of Flanagan's chapter 17 will be parroted here for just a little context - if you haven't read the book, pleeeeeaaaase go read it oh my god, rangers apprentice is the best series I've ever read. There are also small changes for chapter 17 to flesh out Horace's perspective a little more and set up his side better for the original content stuff so... you can skip if you want, but there's a small amount of important new stuff in the Chapter 17 parts, plus it's only a short fic haha, it feels very small if you skip past the beginning 🫣
After that, I'll be changing most of 18 and writing a bit of my own stuff here... it'll probably end up being about 2 normal book chapters worth, and maybe 5 or 6 WATTPAD chapters worth?
I don't really expect anyone to read this, but what the hell - this way I can read it too!
Also in the branch of my AU (there will be more stories coming - including various other small excerpts where Will survived only by sheer luck) will and Horace are gay, they just haven't said it out loud yet. There's not gonna be all that much tension here but yk, if you like that stuff, keep an eye on my page because I'll be writing more
