Midoriya smiled, staring at himself in the mirror. The items of clothing he had decided to wear suited him quite nicely, even if they were a bit on the feminine side. He rarely felt this way, but today he did. He felt very cute.
He admired his skinny, black ripped jeans, which matched the black belt tied around his waist. The golden buckle seemed to compliment the green-colored T-Shirt he was wearing, which matched his eyes and hair. His outfit didn't please him too much, since he'd actually like to wear something else, which was against the school dress codes. But he still felt quite attractive in the attire he was currently wearing.
The freckled male finished tucking his shirt inside his pants, before grabbing a grey sweater and his bookbag. He quickly made his way down the stairs, kissing his mother goodbye before leaving his home. It was Monday again. Exactly one week after a certain blonde's arrival. He and Katsuki had only spoken to each other once, and that was during their strange encounter in the hallways. Izuku still hated him, and still felt lonely during break times. All his supposed friends spent their time around Bakugou, which infuriated the greenette even more. He was jealous, yes, but he wasn't going to let it show.
Before he knew it, the Omega found himself walking through his school's front doors, the sudden sound of slamming lockers and loud chattering filling the air. Izuku tried his best to keep a smile on his face, greeting some of his fellow classmates and other students as he walked through the halls. He eventually reached his classroom, where he quickly took a seat behind a certain blonde.
Class was about to start- Any minute now. And just as predicted, a certain black-haired man walked in as soon as the bell rang. Students finished taking their seats, the sound of the tired man's voice filling the room.
"Alright, settle down. I hope everybody had a good weekend." Aizawa spoke in monotone groan, earning loud excited cheers from his students. He knew right away that most of his class had enjoyed their two days off.
"Okay, alright. I'm glad you had fun. But it's time to work, now. As usual, we're starting off the day with science class. Nothing too exciting, today. But you'll be assigned in groups of two to so a project on a wild animal, finding out the most information about it. You'll have to fill in this pack of papers, putting in the correct information on your wanted animals. This takes up 20% of your final grade, so work hard." Aizawa spoke, slamming a pack of papers down on his desk. Most students groaned, and some spoke between each other, asking to pair up. Only, their slight happiness was interrupted once more.
"I'll be deciding the teams, too. I know most of you will pair up with your best friends, and it won't work too much. You'll just spend your time goofing around and will end up failing this class. I only want the best for you, so keep in mind I'm doing this out of good will. Now, this period will give you and your partner time to choose an animal and give me its name. I don't want two teams making their project on the same animal." The dark-haired man continued to ramble.
Izuku sighed, looking around his classroom. He found several people of which he thought he'd make a suitable team with, and hoped he'd be paired with one of them. He looked up to the front of the class, where his teacher pulled out a list, where he had written pairs of students.
"Okay, first off, Aoyama, you're paired up with Ojiro." The man checked off on his list, looking up to the two students he had just named. "Team number two, Iida and Sato. Next; Jiro and Sero." The man continued, checking several spots on his sheet.
Midoriya patiently waited for his name to come out his teacher's mouth, praying he'd be paired with his favorite remaining people. He looked around, the available people slowly being paired. He knew he'd probably be paired with someone he rarely speaks to, but that didn't matter, at this point. His fear only grew, praying that he wouldn't be stuck with the one person he despised. His emerald eyes landed on blonde locks, his throat tightening as the blonde's name was called out.
"Bakugou, you're paired up with..."
At that moment, Izuku wanted to die. He nearly saw his life flash before his eyes as his entire being shook from fear. His only thoughts being: Don't say my name, don't say my name-
"Midoriya."
That was it. The last shred of life faded away from the greenette's being. He looked up, seeing no reaction from the blonde, which put him in agony. Why the hell was this happening?
Out of everybody- Why did he have to get paired up with Katsuki Bakugou?
Izuku struggled to keep away a groan as he listened to the last pairings. His teacher eventually finished assigning everybody together, and all students suddenly sat next to their partners, beginning to talk about the animal they wanted to choose. Midoriya squinted, hearing his partner turn around in front of him. He looked up, eyes meeting red orbs.
"Yo- I guess we're paired up." Katsuki smiled, seeing the uncomfortable look on the freckled male's face.
"No shit. Yeah, we're paired up." Izuku grumbled, flipping through the stack of papers that was given to him, several minutes earlier. A short silence roamed between the two boys, before Izuku broke it again. "We should do it on an endangered animal. I've been doing that since I was a kid, and endangered animals always rank up points. I'm not sure why, but it's a good trick." Midoriya spoke, fiddling with his pen. He could feel the blonde's glare upon him, which pissed him off.
"I like your outfit." The blonde softly spoke, smiling warmly at the freckled male. Izuku flinched, caught off guard by the compliment. He looked up, noticing the gentle smile on the other's lips. Midoriya frowned, looking down again.
"Shut up." He whispered, struggling to squeak a word out. He wrote his name down, before speaking again. "I suggest we can do it on the Iriomote Cat. They've been endangered for a while now. I think it would be a good idea too, since they have a lot of good information on them, on the internet."
Bakugou let his smile fall, looking down to his own sheet. He thought Izuku was quite attractive and had been struggling to find the strength to compliment him, in the past week. Now that he had, he somewhat regretted it. Izuku seemed to have gotten very uncomfortable by his comment, which led him to think that his compliment was unasked for, and he should keep to himself about any kind of feeling towards him.
"Sure, I don't mind." He spoke, leaning against the back of his chair. The two spoke about their project for several more minutes, and before they knew it, the class was over.
"Alright, everyone! Remember that it's due for Friday!" Aizawa called, several students exiting the classroom, for recess. Izuku gathered his things, struggling to hurry.
"Friday- That's not much time. Wanna meet up sometime, after school? We could work on it at your place, tomorrow afternoon. My place is kinda messy, so-" Katsuki spoke, tapping the freckled male's shoulder. Izuku flinched, shrugging away the blonde's hand. He completely ignored Bakugou's sentence, rushing out the room. The blonde stood alone, a smile fading.
"Katsuki- There you are! Come on! We have to get to our next class!"
The blonde flinched, looking over to the doorway, where somebody was standing. He couldn't remember their name and couldn't care less. He simply smiled and nodded, following them outside.
