It's been a week since first trial has been held. And now they are sitting in the court room, opposite to each other for the last and final battle. Yoongi is confident that he will win and Taemin isn't showing any reaction. "Today is the second and the final trial of this case. The public is anxiously waiting for the results.The trial is being held in private without any public interference because the accused is the son of a Highly respected Ex-Minister. It is like a war... Between the best lawyers of Korea! We don't know what Attorney Lee will..." The news anchor reports the news from outside the courtroom. The only mediaperson allowed near the court. It's a high profile case and sensitive one at that, any sort of disturbance was to be avoided.
And on the other hand both Yoongi and Taemin are preparing to win in their own ways. Do Yeongso is sitting nervously at the place of the defendant. He doesn't know what Taemin has prepared and can't help but feel anxious when he looks at the cool Taemin sitting besides him. Yoongi keeps on stealing glances at Taemin. Taking in his features, noticing how he has changed in these years. As for Taemin, he has no fear, no anxiety, everything has been planned by him and he already knows what the final result will be. " Yes, Your honor...As you know, on the Friday night , the third of this month, defendant comitted a horrible and inhumane act of brutally murdering a young girl who was just 22 years old. He forced the victim to submit to his desires and when she didn't he killed her in a very cruel way, first he hit her head with a rod multiple times causing her skull to suffer several fractures, and then he assaulted the victim and caused her ligaments to tear resulting in death and after the death of the victim, he cut her neck using a beer bottle. And to our surprise it is not the first time that defendant has been accused of such a crime. Exactly 5 years ago..he was accused of same crime! The pattern is same and..," Yoongi continues while handing over the doctor's report. "Defendant's skin fragments have been found in the nails of the victim, here are the details. And also..he has been caught following the victim approximately 3 hours before the murder was comitted. Defendant's footprints have been found on the crime scene and his fingerprints have been found on the bottle that has been used to slit the throat of the victim. The defendant has comitted homicide which is punishable with death penalty or life imprisonment under Section 338. For committing such a barbarous and inhumane act, I request the honorable court to provide justice to the victim and severely punish the defendant by charging him with a death penalty! That's it." Yoongi finishes speaking while giving Taemin a look and bows slightly to the Judge before taking his seat. " Defence..Is there anything you would like to say to prove your point?" " Yes...as I've said in the earlier trial, defendant belongs to a highly influential and prestigious family. To accuse him to have comitted such a heinous crime is nothing but falsely accusing him and defaming him! Also, death penalty? Doesn't the prosecutor in-charge know As of 2022, South Korea retains the death penalty under Article 41 of the Criminal Code?" Taemin mocks while rising from his seat and walking to the centre of the court. " Objection my lord! The defence counsel must know that South Korea retains the death penalty under Article 41 of the Criminal Code but is classified as an "abolitionist in practice country" which means that the death penalty has not actually been executed in the last ten years. It doesn't mean that it has been abolished completely! I request the court to decide wisely." Yoongi says while the Jude silences them both. " This is not a debate about death penalty. Please stick to the case!"
