Freedom. Such a word to those who are familiar with. Such a word that brings joy to those who desire it. But now, things have changed. Changed so much so that the very word may very well be a fictional one. A false term. An illusion created by generations of survival in space, or perhaps by strict rules and laws so extreme that it may very well be prison. But it was not always like this. In fact, it was far less forceful before the end.

Long ago, Earth, a third planet orbiting around a star on the outer edge of the galaxy, was once inhabitable to all forms of life who are lucky enough to originate from, at least for now anyway. It was home to not only plant life, but to organic life as well. Animals, insects, plants, aquatic, and humans.

Humans once considered themselves to be the true chosen ones of evolution due to the fact that they've made it through beyond expectations. As such, they develop technology and tools and other necessities needed to live and or to survive. Their intelligence have no doubt been enhanced through the years of learning and seeking knowledge. They were considered to be the dominant species. But it all changed centuries ago.

Due to their growing knowledge and technological advancements, humanity's population has nearly doubled in numbers to the point where it felt like they were squeezing everything. Not only that, but most of the animals there have become extinct due to their recklessness or their inability to save them because of their greed and selfishness. Their greed also consumed the last of the fossil fuel, which created turmoil and chaos. Food was also running so dangerously low as many trees and plant life were being taken down for the humans to settle in. Even the water that was once clear blue and clean is now black, filled poison and death created by the waste humans have so irresponsibly thrown into.

It become so bad that things were turning for the worst. And it did.

Earth was now at a critical point where life was on the verge of annihilation. Desperate to survive, humanity has pooled all of their knowledge and resources into creating hundreds of interstellar space arks. Each one was at least the size of two to three cities in sideways. The designs was like an enlarged bullet with several large space engines ports on each side. Like all ships, they were piloted by a crew consisting of a captain, navigator, workers, and many others.

But for the amount of people to be boarded, it was all on the society. Those who were in the higher ups were chosen to board the arks. Anyone who is of low class is to be left behind, to spend their last days on the dying planet. There were many protesters, angry people. But there was nothing they can do. Nothing at all.

Soon, the arks were finished and almost all of the departed. Some didn't make it because of their rushed construction, engine failure, and even destroyed by protesters. Other arks couldn't make it through the atmosphere without blowing up or running out of fuel. Now, what became hundreds, became just a hundred. Each ship containing approximately one million people.
