Lexi's POV
I took careful, small steps over the hard gravel rocks underneath my shoes. The air was warm. The wind didn't blow. I kept walking. I saw the big, white house in front of me. It had a nice, neat white, wooden staircase that led to the door. The roof had white metal on it. "Welcome to California" my dads voice chimed in the air. I looked at him, he was holding a box, it was a different box, I recognized it. IT WAS A FREAKING BOX OF FREAKING BEER!!!!!! I thought we had changed. I thought it was over now. A new life to start. Nope! My dad had to ruin it! Dad! I screamed! My dad looked at me as surprisement flickered across his face. What? He said calmly. I shouted, why the heck did you buy that?!? I thought we were starting over! I thought we were going to have a better life here! I had a bad life at the old house! You ignored me! You hit me mom!! For crying out loud!!!!! I came home to you drinking and fighting!! How do you think I felt! I was being bulied at school! I had no good friends! I thought we would start new here! I said this with tears of anger running down my face. My dad looked me straight in my eyes with anger and yelled at me, what was I supposed to do! Huh! Huh! Huh! He said while he was pushong me backwards. His fingertips digging into my shoulder blades. I was scared of the look in his eyes. The look in my moms eyes. The fear she had. The anger he had. Finally he pushed me against a tree. Still yelling he scraped my back against the tree. I felt my skin rip apart. Blood rush out. Pain well up. Tears well up. Anger well up. Fear well up. My dad just hurt me. I was so surprised. My mom his her face in the car. I tried to get up but he pushed me down. Yelling curse words at me. Calling me more hurtful words than at school. I just lay there, in the leaves. My back was numb. Soon, everything became fuzzy. My dads voice drifting away. Everything was spinning. I saw a bright light. Finally I thought a better life. No one hurting me. I get to feel loved again.
