"Look, mom, you've been controlling my life ever since I came out of you. I don't want to go to school anymore. I don't enjoy it, I'm not benefiting from it, I'd rather just work instead," Jungkook shouts frustratedly over the phone.
"If you don't go to school you won't be able to find a good paying job. Don't you see what I'm doing for you?" Jungkook's mom sobs.
"Yes, thank you but it isn't what I want."
"You aren't going to see your father are you?"
"Neither one of you is helpful." Jungkook hangs up the phone and throws it on his bed.
Truthfully speaking, his dad had offered him a job again. It would be to prepare him to run their business in another city. Jungkook didn't shut it down this time because he wanted to get away from this town. The job would offer him a whole new life and new opportunities. Money didn't really matter to him, even though it would be a big amount of income. He was leaning towards this decision because he favorited his father and wanted to spite his mom. It was a bit immature, but Jungkook was tired of constantly being told what to do. He was struggling for freedom and independence. Jungkook hasn't made an official decision yet, but he knew he didn't want to go to school. He's already followed school protocol on taking a leave of absence. It would take about two to three days for a confirmation. London hasn't even crossed his mind until she texted him. Jungkook felt all of his stress and anger disappear as he saw her name on his phone.London: where's the baby shower by the way?
He has completely forgotten about their little date tomorrow. In the past few days, Jungkook has been busy arguing with his mom and trying to get his life together. It's crazy how soon disaster occurred the moment he stopped seeing London. It suddenly hit him. If he took the job, he could also offer London a job and he'll be able to see her every day. It would make the new changes less stressful and he could be distracted freely.
Jungkook drove to the upper east side of town where his father's office was located. It was a ten-story building that sat a few blocks away from their biggest and most expensive nightclub in town. Seeing the towers in this part of town made Jungkook wonder what it would be like to own the tallest building in town. He'd probably enjoy being the boss of a big company. To have an office that would overlook the entire city would be such a powerful feeling. Jungkook suddenly was more eager for this job. He wanted to build something more than nightclubs. Jungkook wanted to become bigger than his father; he wanted to be a billionaire. He could see himself being on the covers of magazines, being interviewed, being named one of the wealthiest men in the world. This is what he wanted, to be a powerful man.
Then he passed an apartment building that was taller than his father's office building. Jungkook shook the thoughts out of his mind. It would probably take some time for him to become a man of power, but it was a start. The thoughts, motivation, and attempts. Everything would all come together eventually. He entered the building and was hit with cold air. The front desk receptionist straightened her back and smiled at him.
"Welcome to the Elysian Clubs office, what can I do for you?" She asks beamingly.
"Can you let Nicolas Jeon know his son is here?" Jungkook answers, resting his arms on the desk. The receptionist nods and picks up the phone, making a call to who Jungkook assumes is his dad.
"Mr. Jeon will see you on the tenth floor," she tells him. Jungkook thanks her and heads to the elevator. The back wall of it was glass as if it would make the ten-story building seem better than the ones towering over it. The doors slid open and Jungkook was greeted with a pretty lady sitting by a desk once more.
"Jungkook?" She asks as he enters. He nods in return. "Right this way." The lady quickly guides him to the end of the hall. She knocked twice on the door, waiting for the approval of the boss.
"Come in," a low voice answered from the other side of the door. She turns the doorknob, opening the door just a crack, and smiles at Jungkook before returning to her desk.
"Dad," he says as he enters. The office wasn't too big nor too small. It had tinted windows all around, and the furniture was all gray and black. It made the room look very sleek despite the darkness.
"Jungkook, nice seeing you again," his father says as he gets up to shake hands. "Sit down." Jungkook sits on the cushioned chair across from his father.
"I want the job," Jungkook says after his dad has settled.
"Yea, I heard an earful from your mother. If this is really what you want then that's great. I've always wanted you to follow my footsteps."
"When can I start?"
"Eager eh?" Nicolas chuckles. "As soon as you want. Just come in whenever you're ready. I'll have my assistant Violet show you your office." Jungkook thanks him and they go into deeper details on the specifics of this job.
Nicolas has been wanting to open a hotel instead of a nightclub in the city Pharon, two hours away but much bigger than Baton Rouge. Opening another nightclub would just mean more competition, so instead, he was going to make it a high end hotel that had a nightclub, a bar, restaurants, and a family entertainment center for the kids. Rather than another tower, the plan was to have three separate buildings. Two would be six stories each and the last would be twelve stories tall. Construction had already begun a couple months back and it would take another seven months for everything to be finalized. During those months, Jungkook has to prove to his father he can handle running their new hotel.
"Would it be possible for me to have an assistant as well?" Jungkook asks.
"Sure, might as well get used to it. I can have Violet post a job listing," Nicolas replies.
"Actually, I have someone in mind. We met in college and I think she'll be great at this," Jungkook interrupts.
"Very well then."
To be very honest, Jungkook wasn't one hundred percent sure that London would take the job. She loves her practicum and he wouldn't want her to take extra time being his little assistant. Even if she says no, it would not be a big loss. He can't be stuck on her forever.
