The air was chilly, and Hermione was ecstatic. It was one month into school, and everything had been going great. She was doing well in her studies (obviously) and she and Verra had grown to be inseparable. Hermione found that she hardly ever thought about Ginny, and was content. But today was going to prove how her relationships stood the test of time. Today was the first visit to Hogsmeade.
~~~~~~
Hermione entered Hogsmeade. The town looked beautiful, adorned with vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow. Crispy leaves laid on the cobblestone street and crunched under Hermione's boots. A brisk wind blew down the street, causing Hermione to pull her sweater closer around her. The mass flock of kids ran down the lane, mainly to Honeydukes, Zonko's, or the Three Broomsticks. Hermione, however, went a very different way. She went to Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop, a tiny building with a window full of elaborately iced cakes and a bright pink door. Hermione looked through the window and looked around for Ron. He was late, as usual, but Hermione was okay with it. She opened the door, a little bell tinkled, and the sleepy shopkeeper looked up from where she was slumped on the counter. "Welcome to Madam Puddifoot's, I'll be with you in a moment." Then she slumped back on the counter. Hermione doubted she would be served anytime soon, but she didn't mind. She would have to wait on Ron anyway. She sat down at a little table in the corner and waited.
~~~~~
After a few minutes, the door bell tinkled again, and a red-headed man stumbled through with a huge bouquet of roses. "Ron!" Hermione squealed, jumping up and running to Ron, who spread his arms and embraced her in a bear hug that is only shared between couples who have not seen each other for decades. "Oof! Hello, Hermione!" He said, looking down at Hermione, who met his eyes in a long gaze. They stared into each other's eyes, floating into the clouds, until someone coughed, and they were pulled back down to Earth. They turned to see that everyone else in the shop was staring. They unfurled themselves, faces rosey red, and walked back to the table, still holding hands. "I've missed you so much!" Hermione said. "I've missed you, too. But work has been really busy, and..." "I don't wanna hear it. Let's talk about now, okay?" "Okay." Ron responded. "So how have you been recently? Ginny's been asking about you." The comment about Ginny opened up a wound that Hermione had thought scabbed over, but she was determined not to let it show. "She has? Well, I have been doing well. Very well, in fact. I met this girl named Verra, a transfer from Beauxbatons." "Oh, yeah, I heard they are allowing transfers. Is is strange having transfers?" "Not really. But As I was saying, Verra and I have gotten very close. What about you? How is being an Auror?" This pattern of conversation carried on for quite a while, and Hermione was just getting into a conversation with him about new wizarding laws when Ron checked his watch and jumped up. "Oh my goodness, I'm late!" "For what?" Hermione asked. "A meeting. The Aurors have been tracking this suspicious group and we are supposed to have a meeting about the best course of action, and it started 10 minutes ago." Ron said, standing and pulling on his jacket. "Oh, I'm sorry I kept you so long. Goodbye!" Hermione gave him a quick peck on the lips and started to leave when Ron looped his strong arm around her waist and pulled her into a deep kiss. Hermione sank into a soothing dream state and Ron held her close, their bodies clicking together like puzzle pieces. Finally they broke apart, Hermione shocked into speechlessness. "But... Your meeting..." "I'm okay with being a little bit later. I had business to tend to that's more important than any job." Then he Apparated away, Hermione hugging her bouquet, any doubts she had about Ron completely vaporized by her overwhelming feelings of love.
