A/n: SO, it's been a while. Life is finally smoothing itself out a little so hopefully I can update more often. I must stress that little though as life is still hectic.

The hot stifling air was choking her. Fire surrounded her, taunting , screaming in her ear that she's a waste, a useless child, a no good fuck up. Hands that felt like molten lava grabbed her, pulling at her legs and arms, trying to drag her further into the flames. Gasping for air that didn't want to come, she struggled as hard as she could to break free. Whipping herself around like a horse on a rampage, with a single determined thought on her mind. She needed  to get free. Wiggling around like a fish out of water she finally managed to get free, bending down and  desperately sucking air into her lungs. Only for the air to be knocked out of her when she looked back up and spotted her parents in front of her. The soft golden hair of her mother, shining in the light of the fire. Her smile and her emerald green eyes that always brightened any room she walked into. The worn and raggedy pink and green apron she always wore even though the colors never quite looked right together. And next to her mother was her father. Her kind, strong, hardworking father. His brown hair, always falling in his eyes in some way or another. His bright blue eyes that always drew Y/n's attention when she was a kid. And of course the horrible dad joke t-shirts because in his words, you can never have enough dad jokes. Staring at them in disbelief and joy Y/n started jogging towards them. Y/n's thoughts had gone completely silent, absolutely focused on the man and woman in front of her with outstretched arms.

Right when Y/n had gotten within 2 feet of her parents, a thought that felt as if ice cold water had been poured on her, stopped her in her tracks. Your parents are dead. They've been dead for over 4 years.

Upon noticing Y/n halt their warm smiles turned into cruel, mocking smirks. Y/n shakily drew in her breath, watching as the sweet faces of her parents morphed into burnt corpses staring at her mockingly. Sharp whispers of, come on honey, didn't you want to see us?  Come here and give your dear parents a hug!, surrounded Y/n as the burnt corpses started circling her. Grabbing her head and pulling her hair Y/n fell to her knees, desperate to wake up from this nightmare. Wake up, wake up, WAKE UP! The high pitch mocking laughter of the young woman's parents seemed to be trying to drown Y/n, rising in volume until it was unbearable. Y/n opened her eyes and let out a blood curdling scream directed at the burnt parents. Heaving for air Y/n watched as the mocking smiles turned into downright evil smirks. Watching as her mothers eyes seemed to glow the burnt mouth opened and what came out of it is something Y/n would never forget.

There's the little monster we know! After all you're the reason we're dead.

Y/n started tearing up at that, whispering No No No's that gradually got louder trying to drown out her parents' words. Opening her mouth to deny the words that had come out of her mothers mouth, Y/n was startled awake by rapid pounding on her door. Choking on a sob and frantically wiping away any tears she had shed from the nightmare, the shaken woman got up to answer the door. Y/n opened the door and was met by the sight of bright blue eyes filled with worry.

"Are you okay Y/n, you were screaming in your sleep," Historia exclaimed as she grabbed Y/n's face in her hands to inspect her.

Swallowing back another sob and the unexpected thankfulness the girl in question responded back with a small nod.

"I have a water bottle if you need it," Historia pressed, fully aware of the girls poofy red eyes and slightly runny nose.

"I'm good Historia, thank you," Y/n politely declined, already embarrassed at having a breakdown on just the second night of college.

Sighing a bit Historia nodded and let go of the girl's face. Watching the sorrow on the girl's face made her heart hurt and before she could stop herself, Historia's mouth opened to ask an intrusive question.

"Have you gone to therapy for that?"

Y/n's face hardened and all emotion disappeared from her face as those words came out of the blond girl's lips. Turning away to hide her face she answered the woman, "I have and it didn't work. I don't want to hear any suggestions either, none of it worked. Now I suggest that you leave my dorm please."

Historia gasped at the icy cold words and her stomach weighed down from the guilt that now resided in it. Looking away in shame the girl opened her mouth to apologize. But before she could even make a sound she looked back and Y/n was staring at her and for a second Historia could see just how broken the girl's eyes were. Turning around and heading to the door Historia whispered an apology and left.

Staring at the door long after Historia was gone, Y/n slowly dropped her mask and let out a silent sob. Dropping to her knees, Y/n let the tears flow freely and clenched her night shirt in her fists. After what felt like hours but was probably only 10 minutes Y/n rose to her feet unsteadily and headed to the sink. Turning on the cold knob of the sink, Y/n splashed her face with the water. Staring up in the mirror the mocking face of her mother popped up behind her whispering the word monster  in her ear. Shaking off the voice she wiped off her face and lamented the loss of another friendship. Every other friendship always ended within a few weeks so why would this one be any different?

Because she actually cared, a small voice whispered in the back of her head. Shaking that voice off Y/n looked at the clock stating 4:43 a.m. and started to get ready for the next day of college. It wasn't like she'd be getting anymore sleep anyways.

A/n: I didn't feel like sleeping just yet so I decided to finish this chapter up. Hope y'all enjoyed it!
