As I got off the boat, I stared at the vast land ahead of me. Strange, it feels like I've been here my whole life. Perhaps my mother was right. I would enjoy being here. A man on a horse appeared just as the ship sailed away just as I was waiting for someone to arrive, just in time for the ship to depart. We exchange greetings as he waves at me and we exchange a few words.

"Ah you must be Y/N correct? I am sorry to hear about your mother but I'm glad to see her family back. Your mother's old village is nearby. We will visit your mother's childhood home in her old village if you are tired."

I smiled at his words. It was a pleasure to meet a friendly individual who was much better than the stuck-up snobs on the mainland. It did have its quirks, but working in an office job didn't work for me. "How long will we need to trek for?"

He motioned me to climb on the horse's back. "A few hours, then you can settle in for the night. Got some easy work for you."

"Did you know my mother well?" I asked, getting on the horse as we went.

"Well enough, in fact. Such a kind woman, sorry she fell ill. I am glad you are here of course. There has been a lot occurring lately."

"The civil war, right? Something about tradition and change?"

Despite repelling most of Noxus, it is still sad to see this. People are bitter and it's worrying for everyone who isn't a part of it."

As we continue our journey, I hold my mother's urn close to my heart. I heard about the Noxus invasion and what it did to my mother. Fear was the reason she left. Wish she could be here with me. I miss her childhood stories about traveling to Placidium and praying to the spirits. It only took a short distance for us to arrive at the village. However, it wasn't anything special. Rice and wheat fields, villagers trading resources with each other. We then stopped in front of an old building that closely resembled a house. It had a tree trunk base, with a stone stair leading up to the house itself. Old lanterns lit the place up with blue lights, probably magic. At the front of the house, there was a bright yellow door. The house itself was painted in a dark brown color and the trim throughout the house was yellow, with a yellow trim around the windows.

"Wow, this is where my mom used to live?" I get off the stead and collect my bag. She never told me, her childhood home looked like...well not Piltover I guess. The old man nodded his head. "Yes, she lived here most of her life, and she actually helped aid the injured when the invasion happened." We walked up the stairs until we reached the door. "Well, you are probably tired from all the traveling you have done. I tidied up the house just a bit. You have the basic necessities, and a small bed. If you would like, I can show you around a little bit more before the night ends.

"No thanks, I think I will be fine. Thanks anyway." With that I wave the old man off and enter my new home.

Even with him cleaning up a bit, I can definitely see how worn down this house is. There wasn't anything all that bad about it, but it was covered in dust and there were items of unknown origin scattered about. It only had 4 rooms, a master bedroom, a kitchen area, a bathroom and a closet. Not much to go off of but it will make do. It was already furnished, too bad because it leads back to dust. There is no better time than now to begin cleaning, so after grabbing a few supplies from my bag, I got started.

Within an hour of cleaning, I was finished and proud of it. The place didn't look too bad now, although now I'm facing a bigger issue. I'm hungry and I don't have much money on me. I realized I didn't have any source of income since I moved. Regretting not taking up on the old man's offer, I set out to find something to eat.

The village didn't seem to have much to offer, which was fair due to it being a trading one. Goods go in and out frequently. With that being said I happened to post some people who were fruits and vegetables and was able to pick some up although it wasn't as much as I hoped, just enough to feed me for a few days. "Will that be all?" he asked, looking at me. "Actually I do have a question, I am trying to get a bit more gold in my pocket, any jobs you know I can take?" I asked.

"Well, you could always join the local militia, I heard they are going through some hardships with the leader, and I have been hearing about more Noxus patrols nearby." He shrugs. "Oh, I'm not a fighter at all. I can barely lift a weapon, and I doubt I have any magical prowess." I shake my head to his idea of me joining up.

"You are the guy who just moved right, mother used to live there? Well Ionia so you should have some connection to the spirits."

"Maybe, thanks anyway." With that I wave the man off, and head back home. I couldn't imagine myself joining a war, or even being a mage. Ionian or not, due the spirits would give me something like that. I enter my house and start making dinner for tonight.

3rd Pov

You sat on your bed, thinking as the day became night, with the food in hand. Could this be a mistake? Was running away from my past life the answer? Especially in a war-torn area, it seems peaceful so far but who knows. While in my thoughts, you notice a bright light outside and shortly afterwards some yelling In the distance, you see soldiers with giant axes and black and red uniforms starting up fire amid the din. Curious, you place your food on the side and look out the window to see them.

Running out the door, you see in more detail what's going on. They were taking prisoners and putting rope on women and children while men got killed on the spot. You get close only to be knocked down.

"Found another one!"

"Get the hell off me!" you screamed, already feeling the binding on your wrists. The man grabbed your hair and slammed your face into the ground. "Silence, we'll see what we can do." He swiftly grabbed you and raised you up only to place you in the middle of other chained people.

One man who looked more imposing than the rest walked up and stared at them. "Bah, these traders are all worthless. Just execute them and we'll be on our way. She's coming soon, and I don't want to deal with that." And with his signal, they started slaughtering people like animals, burning down most of the town, leaving only your isolated house standing. Your thoughts rushed through your mind rapidly. My mother's urn. Realizing what's at stake you struggle to free yourself but to no avail, and it quickly becomes your turn. Seeing the raised axe above your head, you close your eyes.

A swish and a loud thud followed. You open your eyes to see the guard who was about to execute you lying on the ground with blood leaking from his neck.

"NOW!," shouted a feminine voice, followed by people rushing to help with makeshift blades. During the fight, you cut your rope bindings near the axe where he was killed. Getting up you hastily unbind the other people near you and let them run. Yet instead of you wanting to help out, there were others in trouble and you could make a difference. Despite your lack of proficiency in combat, you helped those in need with an axe in hand. As you untied another person, the big guy from earlier swings his greatsword at the hilt of the axe you were carrying and it splits in half. He chuckles before taking another swing at you. You hold your hands to defend yourself, and with a spark of red, your hands emit a magical blast hitting his chest plate.

"So you're a mage huh? Well you could have been useful. He starts swinging his sword wildly with you nearly dodging each one, throwing a dark blast every now and then. With godly reaction speed he grabs the hand you were slinging magic at and headbutts you with his helmet. Blood drips from your skull after a loud crack is heard. Dazed you fall down barely holding on to consciousness. The man grabs your hair and pulls you up to see his scarred face.

"End of the line!" He readied his blade with one hand, a moment before he could do anything. Several flying blades slashed at him ending his life. She looks down at you softly, seeing that you are injured, and sighs in response. You see that she has dark blue hair and a scowl on her face. "Can you hear me?" She softly asked. You nodded slowly trying to get up only to falter. "Hey you're alright, just lay down if needed. We have taken care of everything thank you." And with those final words you smile soberly as you fall asleep due to your injuries.

Author Note here, I finally got into writing and I actually want to keep doing it. With that being said, this chapter is pretty short and I'm still trying to improve. I will try to make another chapter soon since I already have an idea where I want to go with that. Anyways let me know anything I should change or improve, always down to learn thank you.
