OVER 100 READS! OMG!! Anyway, here is a gift to you, Chapter Four! Maquel action will take place in this chapter!

“I should get going,” the girl Melissa had spoken to Mason, then put her gaze towards me with a fine smile. A smile somewhat similar to Mason’s. “But before I do, you should introduce me to this girl.”

The vibe I got from her wasn’t really a competitive one, or even one that really acted like his girlfriend. She seemed comfortable with him, and actually looked a little similar. Maybe they were siblings?

Mason smiled back to Melissa, and then looked to me. I stayed quiet while looking from Mason to Melissa. “This is Raquel,” he spoke to her, smiling towards me. “Raquel, this is my sister Melissa.”

So they were siblings. For some reason, I was relieved to hear that. I didn’t really like the idea of him having a girlfriend for some reason. I know, it probably sounds like I like him, but that’s not it at all. I just thought that a girlfriend may get in the way of our friendship.

Melissa eyed me as if studying me. As if she was trying to know me better. I wouldn’t blame her. I guessed she was older then Mason and I’d want to make sure I approved of a younger sibling’s friend. I was an only child, though. I could imagine what it would be like to have a sibling though. You’d fight, but in the end, you’d love each other like family, and you’d care. You wouldn’t let anything happen to them.

Melissa forced a smile to me. I hoped a smile was a good sign. She seemed to be like an unpredictable kind of person though. “Nice to meet you,” she breathes, resting her hand on the edge of the table. Something about the way she was looking at me made me think there was something she wanted to tell me. Just the look I got from her. Something about her in general had a strange vibe.

“Nice to meet you too,” I reply, smiling gently. Her eyes were glued to mine as she stood up from the table. A look of hatred? I wouldn’t call it that. It was more of a sly look that anybody would feel uncomfortable with.

After a moment of quiet, Melissa turned to Mason. “It was nice seeing you again, but I should be leaving right now,” she begins. “I’d like to pay ‘mom’ a visit. Ever since the divorce she has seemed rather down.”

Divorce? It was when she said that I had realized throughout the entire day, Mason and I had not once brought up family. I didn’t tell him about my dead father and my drunken mother, and he hadn’t said a word about Melissa or his parents. Plus, the way Melissa said mom was extremely abnormal; as if quoting it.

Mason nodded to Melissa while scratching the back of his head. “She’d like that,” Mason agreed. “It was nice seeing you to. Just….I’d appreciate it if you didn’t just walk in all the time.”

Melissa made a small and quiet chuckle, while leaning in to hug Mason. He didn’t really respond at all. When Melissa pulled away, she walked out the door in a lady like fashion, shutting it behind her.

What was that? The stares I got from her, the vibe she gave. Almost a negative one actually. It was confusing. She came off as sly and manipulating but I think that would be an opinion to keep to myself. I don’t think Mason would appreciate me thinking that about his sister, but it didn’t seem like he was overly thrilled to see her either. It seemed like he was forcing a smile.

“Sorry about that,” Mason speaks, looking to the ground as he sits down on the small maroon colored bed. “She’s a handful. She’s actually adopted too.”

My eyes widened when Mason said that. She was adopted? I wasn’t expecting that. They looked alike actually, and they shared a nice smile. Although, his seemed more lively then hers. Then again, it would explain how she said mom. “Why didn’t you tell me about your family at all today?” I ask him, not exactly wanting to discuss Melissa’s visit.
