And it's such a typical thing
Runnin' over a billion men, ooh-Doja
Ginevra
"Don't think about it too much, Ginevra."
"It's pretty hard not to when your own family doesn't think you can do things for yourself."
"I think you can." Serafina gave me a warm smile, drinking her favourite pregnancy tea. I return the same smile, sipping on my cup of coffee.
"How far along is he?" I get up to sit next to her, rubbing my hand across her belly. "Not far now, 3 more weeks till his due date." She places her hand over mine, guiding it along to a firm bump. A few kicks are felt and I gasp, beaming at my older sister.
"You're gonna be a fighter. Do me a favour and beat your Uncle Matteo up for me when I get too old." I speak towards her belly and I could tell Serafina was chuckling, her belly jolting up and down.
"What's this beating up business I'm hearing about? Putting ideas in my sons head already, Gin?"
"Whatttt, I would never." I say in a high pitched voice before getting up and giving Danny a hug. Of course he gave me his usual long and tight bear hug, the kind that suffocates you. I've learnt to just not complain. Thanks for the tip, sis.
"You been good?" Ruffling my hair, he waits for my response. I sigh. "Could be better." I drop my body weight back down on their couch, looking up at their white ceiling.
I loved visiting my sisters place. Apart from catching up with the soon-to-be-three family, I also liked how coming here made me feel like I could escape my reality for awhile. Sera and Danny have always been so welcoming and kind to me, offering a spare room if I wished to stay over as long as I wanted.
Of course I never stayed over, I didn't want to intrude for longer than a hour or two.
Sometimes though, I would find myself envious of my sisters life. She's still apart of the families unspoken business, but I already know she'll be retiring and living a separate life of her own soon. One without the guns, the fighting and the drugs.
Daniel Owens. He wasn't in the Mafia or involved with any sort of people, just a regular person living in Seattle as an accountant; but somehow he found himself involved with our family.
Sera was on a mission, and the men she had recruited for the job had a flaw in their plan. They captured the wrong guy and it wasn't easy for her to just 'let him go.' As weird as it sounds, she got along well with her capturee, finding out that Daniel was a genuine guy.
Our father on the other hand wasn't happy about his long presence, so he ordered her to kill him. But it was all too late, she had fallen in love with Daniel way too much to listen to our fathers orders: so she left.
Father didn't take that easily since it was his daughter, he didn't want to lose her. So no more than a day later, he begged for her to come back. Agreeing on having Danny unharmed.
Dad and Danny get along perfectly fine now, he even offered Daniel a job working with us but we all knew he wasn't quite fond with joining the Mafia.
So here they are today, married and their first child on the way.
"You know what I'm about to say, right?"
