hermione's arms lay limp beside her as the house elf scrubbed her every which way. she gave the elf an apologetic look as the young elf tried to comb out hermione's large tangles. the elf was in near tears when hermione's hair refused to be tamed into a ponytail so the elf let it lay out. it made hermione resemble that of a lioness. as soon as that ordeal was over hermione was dressed in gray slacks and a black t-shirt and seated at a large dining table. she looked around at the large room with the high ceilings and walls that seemed to go on forever. the long windows draped in large curtains that gave the room a suffocating sense. a chandelier hovered above the elongated dining table where draco malfoy sat on one end with his mother. for the first time, draco looked comfortable and relaxed in his own home. his mother also seemed to feel like a weight was taken off of their shoulders.

hermione glanced back to the table to see draco and his mother staring at her. she felt her face go hot and looked back down at her hands.

"you must be wondering," draco's mother voiced finally, her voice soft yet powerful. "why you were treated much kinder today than your arrival here."

hermione gave a timid nod, sucking in her lips and trying to get the courage to look the woman straight in the eye.

"you see, my husband and sister have found themselves called on by the Dark Lord and are drawn away for business."

you could practically here the delight in her voice as she said so.

"i did not agree with they way you were treated so while they are gone you will be treated as a human. however, i cannot give you your voice back because bellatrix will know."

hermione looked up and looked into her silver eyes, looking very similar to draco's. she gave a nod of gratitude and looked back at her hands. her senses tingled slightly and she looked up quickly in fear, only to notice food had appeared on the table.

"please, eat." draco's mother gestured to the food. she picked up her own plate and left the room, leaving draco and hermione staring at each other.

hermione hesitantly picked up a fork and began to spear the spaghetti into her mouth. the flavor filled her mouth, causing her to salivate immensely.

"you don't have to be a pig about it." draco sneered, not touching his food.

she opened her mouth to retort but shamefully forgot she had no voice.

draco let out a cruel laugh and finally began to move the food on his plate around. hermione's eyes watered, she had had enough.

hermione stood up, roughly pushing her chair back and stomped towards draco. he watched her storm to him with amusement and trepidation. hermione slit her eyes at him and gestured for his hand to which he did not comply. he looked at her with raised eyebrows and eyes full of annoyance.

hermione seized his hand, looked him straight in the eye and began to write. she used her index finger to mimic the movements of letters onto his hand so that she could converse with him. draco was no idiot but if he caught on, he made no movement to indicate he understood.

hermione wrote on his hand for about four minutes before backing away.

draco finally looked her in the eye, his hand still outstretched.

"agreed. to both." he responded after some time and turned back to his food. hermione sniffed and walked back to he seat, suppressing a grin.

draco had agreed that he too thought he was the only pig in the room and that they should eat in silence.
