A Game Of Chase

Growing up, Chase and I were like peanut butter and Jelly. He would call me Bay and he was always my Ace. Now he's the king of the school I once loved. I moved when I was a little girl-well ten years old. I still remember that day.

Chase gave me a picture of us from when we were seven years old before I moved. We were sitting, having a picnic by the beach outside of his beach house. He was pointing at something on the ground, my hair was pulled back into a pony tail of straight blonde hair. Jet black hair was hanging loosely off of his forehead in front of his hazel eyes. My bleach bangs were covering my brown eyes.

Even at the young age of seven, we were together all of the time. Chase and Bailey-we were the two everyone thought would be together forever. Our moms were best friends, so we were always either at my house or his. I'm an only child, while he has an older sister who he shared his mother's love with. Chase's dad, Gavin, wasn't one to show affection. It was rare to see him even give Chase's mother and his mate, Lily, a kiss on the cheek. He never even spoke to Chase or Chase's sister, Carmen.

Although that's pretty much understandable. Gavin loved my mom, Anya. But my mother was Gavin's Beta's mate, Tommy. My father was a loving man. He and Gavin were the best of friends. This is why my mother and Chase's mom were so close.

We moved because my father was killed by rouges. He and Gavin stood side by side in front of the pack, facing the rouges. When they attacked, one came for Gavin's neck while he was going for another wolf, and my dad jumped at him. He hit the wolf right in its ribs, saving Gavin's life. But what did Gavin do? He let that wolf attack my father and kill him. He watched my father die for him. Yes, my father could've beat that wolf, but he was the alpha of the other pack. It wouldn't have been possible. Instead of Gavin coming to pay his respects, he made my mother feel guilty about it, saying "that's what you get for marrying someone weak like Thomas Decklin." My mother and I packed our things into her Chevy Trax and we left the next day. We moved all the way from beautiful Palm Springs to remote Milo, Maine.

And now here I am, eighteen, a graduate of Penquis Valley Highschool, Milo, ME, heading back to Palm Springs to see what I've been missing. I hope Chase hasn't forgotten about me. I bet he's found his mate. He's my lucky card, if you get what I mean, ya know "Chase, my Ace." Ha ha. I can't wait to see my missing card.
