Testify

"Bad Penny. As fore-warning by testifying in this court case you understand that this will be an admission of guilt and culpability in regards to the Museum heist and the activities of the personalities known as Sin Raven, Sin Crow and Bolt?" So far the court took drama had been playing out exactly according to the brief.

The opening statements had been made by the local law first, then Supergirl had given her report of the crime response, followed by Sharkie. Now I was speaking on behalf of the villains.

"I understand completely and confess to being the master mind." The process here was well trodden, my confession here on the stand was binding and could be used if I went to trial. I wasn't the one on trial though. "The job was to retrieve a Palmer Tech shrink Ray from the original Atom suit. This was a low priority job, for the prestige only and the kids were all under instructions to abandon the mission if they met resistance"

"Can you and will you provide us with threat assessments and weapons of your Patsies? For fairness in determining just force?" At the moment it was the court appointed defense on the other side. The Original had demanded and been denied the right to defend himself.

"Yes, but only because their load-outs have been changed since their initial outings as patsies. Now as fully promoted members they're more capable!" I nodded up to the Conqueror Drone under guard at the back of the hall, using my helmet to display a custom emoji of an orb with an antenna. "I already provided a copy to our council, however I will use my orb to display the censored information!" At a nod from the judge, Bootstrap did just that, putting up info of Bolt before her powers and Raven minus the overlay of her spirit form.

"Bolt's super speed is an enhancement obtained after losing her legs. A result of super science!" I didn't need to explain that, just a look over her vitals would prove she didn't have the speed or healing at the time of the attack. "And the sin siblings are medium skilled black magicians. While they have fast travel abilities and shields, none of them have enhanced strength or healing. Bolt at the time of the crime was at best an infiltration expert and martial artist and while Bolt was pinned down, the Sins were not going to abandon her to an aggressive threat!"

I tried to sum up as best as possible the limits of the kids at the time, but my presence here was mostly a formality.

The Original was sitting in self conceited smugness and watching the scene with disdain. "Is it true however that the threat posed by The Apparition and Sin Raven was significantly higher. Raven had since proved themselves in the Super Max jail break of being able to handle multiple high level threats." This was the counter by the Original's representation.

I hid a gulp, the helmet's screen was set to manual currently to prevent accidental emotes. I switched to a an embarrassed emoji "I'm afraid I don't know the full nature of her powers. Raven would be better able to explain but it is my understanding that all her skills are non-lethal."

This revelation ran through the Courtroom with a quiet murmur, hopefully it would establish what was needed, the extreme horribleness of the brutal attack.

"Don't worry. We'll get to Raven later, a Villain going Hero after an incident like this requires further proof!" I was dismissed and left to join the group of kids.
I got a pat on the shoulder, confusingly enough from Supergirl as I returned to my seat. Most likely she thought I was brave for revealing so much about my team and for testifying at all.

What she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. Mine and Reviled's presence here were mostly unnecessary if we were just trying to get the base conviction, but Reviled was on a war path.

He was called to the stand next, with our council asking the all important questions. "Mr Reviled, that is your working name correct?"

"Yes sir. Kamen Reviled!" Ray beamed for a moment at his little pun but this was a serious conversation. "I am both a rival of Miss A's in a hero/villain way and I know and train alongside her out of costume."

"And I understand you have testimony in regards to Miss A's training and upbringing?" Ray simply nodded to the asked question as his comical side slipped away.

"My report to the League via Miss Martian Manhunter came before Miss A learned about my private identity. I testify here knowing that it is in breach of the spirit of the Truce. In our private lives, during a time after our ninja training class, I had been suspicious of the Original picking up Miss A instead of one of his servants. I followed them at a distance and was witnessed some of his training first hand!"

"What did it entail?"

Since Ray looked so nervous I flicked him a 'You got this' emoji as he began to explain. "He's been using her as bait! Sending her in, often without backup to lure out and kill sexual predators!" He said simply. "I followed her, to an Alley, where she was sent to meet an older man and . . ."
