Bucky was tired and sore. His latest mission with Sam had wrapped up this morning and he was ready for a break. A small basket of cookies was on his porch with a six pack of coke in glass bottles. "Movie night? Let me know when you get home." A note read. It was signed with two nose prints and a simple S. Bucky pulled out his phone, shooting off a quick text. "Sure. I'll get some snacks. The usual?" A quick thumbs up pinged on his phone. Shawna must be at work. He smiled, feeling a bit better.
That evening around 4 he let himself into her house. They preferred it for movie nights as her decor was more pillows and blankets than anyone ever needed. He pulled out her newest one, getting it in "her" spot. He put the two six packs of the coke in the fridge. Before grabbing the leashes, "Come on, pretty girls. I'll walk you before momma gets home." Becky and Flo started happy dancing, their toenails making tippy tap noises. Bucky patted them as he headed towards the neighborhood dog park, knowing if the girls were the only ones there they could run off some steam playing a few rounds of fetch. They lucked out and Bucky threw the tennis ball for a good half hour before he and the exhausted dogs headed back to the house, where Shawna's big truck was parked. He shook his head, it was sure a funny sight seeing this small woman hop in and out of this truck.
Her front door opened as she carried an old watering can, "Hey." Shawna greeted, a big smile on her face. "You got which movie series you want to start to marathon?" She asked Bucky, but was looking at his shoulder, he was sure. He had noticed in the six months of living down the street that she did that often when she had been out and about. "Yeah Star Wars?" He asked, remembering it being in Steve's notebook. "A favorite of mine." She enthused. "You want to get the pizza order started, my turn to pay." She reminded him. "I'll be in in a minute."
Bucky was content, full and enjoying the movie. He especially enjoyed Han. Shawna was mouthing the lines, obviously having the movies memorized. After Return of the Jedi, she stretched and yawned. "Next three tomorrow?" She asked. "They aren't my favorite but I think you will enjoy them. Except for Revenge of the Sith, it always makes me cry." She admitted. Bucky watched her, before nodding. "I'll pack a clean handkerchief and bring tissues. Chinese for dinner. My turn to pay." He booped her nose without thinking. Earning him a shy smile. "It's a date." She agreed, before she panicked. "I mean it's a friend date. Like a hangout date. Not a romantic date. Do you even date? I know I gave up on getting lucky in love a long time ago." She rambled. Bucky felt his heart ache a bit at the sadness she couldn't quite hide. "I date, just haven't in a long time." Bucky soothed. "I like hanging out with my neighbor and her mangy mutts." He teased, making her smile. "I like hanging out with my grumpy neighbor too." She admitted.
