Chapter 1: Together

"Shizuka-chaaan!!" Jijen Ando, Shizuka's father, called out from the kitchen, "Foods ready!! Papa has made your favourite food for you!"

"Dear! No need to be so loud, Shizu-chan could be practicing for the upcoming competition with Ryoma-kun!" Seiko Ando, Shizuka's mother whispered to her doting husband.

"Sou desu Chichi. (That's right, Father)" A monotone voice came from the top of the stairs, "Yoku kikoemasu. (I can hear you just fine.)" A young frail body walked down the staircase slowly, showing a delicate 8 year old child.

"Okay!~ Please forgive me my lovely daughterrrr!" Jijen cried lovingly as he ran to embrace his mature daughter.

"Jijen! Do be careful with Shizuka, goodness-" Seiko ran up and dragged Jijen off the suffocating Shizuka, "Sorry my darling Shizu-chan, your father really doesn't know when to stop! Also Shizu-chan i've noticed you still speak our lovely home language! You don't need to speak Japanese here okay? We're in the big USA!" Seiko bent down and smiled gently at her child.

"Un, gomen...Oishisou desu ne (Yes, sorry. That looks delicious)" Shizuka replied, pointing at the steaming food on the table.

"Yes, doesn't it? Now eat up alright! We're leaving for the competition in a bit and you can see Ryoma-kun again, Shizu-chan!"

"Hai..sou desu (Yes, that's right)" Shizuka said, her normally emotionless expression becoming a small smile as her cheeks turned a rosy pink after Ryoma was mentioned.

"Ryo" Shizuka was so overjoyed to see an emerald haired boy enter the competition hall, a boy she would be able to spot in a crowd of thosands.

"SHIZU!" A hazel eyed boy gleamed when he noticed Shizuka looking at him with shining eyes, "I missed you so muchhh! We haven't seen each other in nearly 2 months Shizu!!" The excited boy claimed in English, pouting with wide eyes.

Ryoma hugged the girl tight as warmth spread across both of the children's cheeks.

"Hisashiburi ni atta, Ryo (It's been long since we've seen eachother, Ryo)" Shizuka smiled cutely, "Genkideshita ka? (How have you been?)"

"Ne, why do you still speak Japanese? It's not like people understand you anyways." Ryoma said confused as he let go of the cold girl, "Speak English, isn't it better? You're bascially a genius at academics and speaking foreign languages so why??"

"Hm, i don't know. I prefer Japanese and will only speak English when necessary i guess," Shizuka replied, shrugging. "Can i go back to Japanese now?"

"Yay! You spoke English~ I will never get tired of your cute English voice!" Ryoma obliviously stated while showing a big smile.

"Hey hey Ryoma! Don't try steal my lovely Shizuka-chan from me!!" Jijen pouted sadly while picking up Shizuka and twirling her around.

"Ah, good afternoon Mr and Mrs Ando! I'm so glad to see you two and Shizu!"

"Yes yes dear Ryoma-kun, we are glad to see you here today as well!" Seiko greeted the small boy happily as if they were family.

"Let's go, our time to preform is soon." Shizuka interrupted their greetings with shallow words.
