"Oh, c'mon," Oliver complained, trying to steal a mozzarella cheese stick from his fiancé's plate. "What ever happened to, 'what's mine is yours?'"
"Hmm," Rhodey looked at his left hand, "That's funny. I don't see a ring on this finger, yet."
"Oh, that's how it is?" Oliver joked.
Rhodey leaned over to give him a chaste kiss before teasingly confirming, "That's how it is."
"Gross, we're trying to eat," Kit mocked, stealing a mozzarella cheese stick from Rhodey's plate. The older alpha playfully narrowed his eyes at his to-be in-law, but didn't say –
"Hey!" Finn announced, heading over to their table at their favorite little diner, being greeted with a chorus of snarky remarks from his loving family. Shrugging out of his winter jacket, he apologized, "Sorry, we're late."
"That's okay, bub," Bucky assured while Steve caught, "We're? As in, we are? As in you and –"
"Finny! Finny!" A high pitch bell-like voice called.
As the Barneses turned to see the little blonde girl with pigtails rush after the twenty-one year old and how she easily jumped, knowing that he would catch her. And he did. Finn lifted the six year old and hoisted her small frame onto his hip.
"And who is this?" Bucky kindly asked, smiling at the little girl.
"I'm Suki," she happily informed.
"That's a pretty name," Rhodey smiled. He was always good with kids. Even when he was a kid, himself. Which was probably why he worked with them for a living, and one of the reasons why Bucky couldn't wait for him and Ollie to make him a grandpa.
"Thank you," Suki preened. Feeling the need to introduce the young alpha holding her, she said, "This is the bestest teacher ever, Mr. Finn."
"Thank you," Finn smiled.
"He's mommy's special friend though, so I get to call him, 'Finny.'"
Special friend. The Barneses looked at Finn while the alpha, himself, kept his gaze elsewhere while his alabaster cheeks reddened.
"Suki, you can't just run off like that!"
Directing their attention to the pregnant blonde woman, the Barneses watched as she came to a halt. Wide-eyed, she looked at the people looking at her before stepping closer to Finn. Lowering her voice, she said something to him, and Finn quietly assured her.
Still holding Suki, Finn introduced, "Katie, this is my family. Guys, this is Katie."
"My mommy!" Suki beamed, reaching out for the woman. Reaching towards the woman's abdomen, she said, "I came from her belly, just like bubby is going to."
Katie smiled at her daughter and Finn fondly smiled as he watched their interaction. The only thought that Steve had was, uh oh. Because usually, the only time that his kids looked at their partner like that was when they were in love.
"We're gonna need a few more chairs, please," Bucky informed one of the waitresses. When she nodded, the older alpha kindly thanked her.
"Here," Kit stood from their seat and offered it to the beta woman.
"Thank you," Katie graciously accepted and eased herself into the seat.
Out of the corner of his eye, Steve could see the other kids looking around at each other, silently exchanging their surprise. Especially since they hadn't been prepared to meet their brother's new partner. Hell, Steve wondered if they had even known about Katie. Steve hoped that they had heard about her more than he had considering he barely knew anything about her aside from Finn being her daughter's piano teacher, that she was thirty, and going through a divorce.
