Winter's Spring

'Chapter 5'

(Bucky POV)
I awoke, slumped forwards in a seat. I looked around and saw my metal arm was trapped under something large and heavy looking. I looked up and saw Sam, Steve, and Gracie. Gracie turned to me and smiled when she saw me awake.

"Bucky! Esti treaz! (Bucky! Your awake.)" She jumped onto my and hugged me. I felt great to have her in my arms again, I was worried for her. I looked up to Sam and Steve.

"Da, sunt treaz, Gracie (Yes, I'm awake Gracie.)" I whispered. I looked at Gracie and smiled.
"Which Bucky am I talking too?" Steve asked. I looked up to him and answered.
"Your mom's name was Sarah, you used to wear newspaper in your shoes," I chuckled at the memory.
"You can't read that in a museum." Steve chuckled.

"Just like that was supposed to be cool?" Sam said, obviously unimpressed.

"What did I do?" I asked. I saw that Gracie had a small cut on her check and I swear to god if I did that to her, I would never forgive myself.

"Enough." I looked down at Gracie.
"Oh god, I knew this would happen, everything HYDRA put inside of me is still there. All he had to do was say the goddamn words." I groaned; Police would even more want me now.

"Who was he," Steve asked. The man, the person that pulled me back into being the Winter Soldier was a blur in my memory.
"I don't know." I mumbled.
"People are dead. The bombing, the setup. The doctor did all of that just to get ten minutes with you. I need you to do better than 'I don't know'" Steve said. I remembered before he controlled me.
"He wanted to know about Siberia where I was kept. He wanted to know exactly where."

"And why would he need to know that?"

"Because I am not the only Winter Soldier." I answered, silencing the room.

"Who were they?"

"Their most elite death squad. They have more kills than anyone in HYDRA's history. And that was before the serum."
"Did they all turn out like you?"
"Worse."

(Gracie's POV)
Steve hijacked an old car and both him and Sam sat in the front. I saw in the back with Bucky sitting with an English book. Bucky was teaching me how to speak English. I held the book in my hands, and we were practising normal sentences. When I was ready, I turned to Bucky and shut the book. He nodded his head and started the conversation

"Hello, I'm Bucky, what is your name." He simply said. I looked at him in the eye and remember the answer to this.
"Hi, I am Gracie, nice to meet you." I said. Bucky smiled and Sam turned to face us.
"Buna treaba Gracie! Ai inteles! Înveți foarte repede! (Great job Gracie! You understand! You learn very quickly!)" he congratulated me. I smiled.

"How long has it been since she started?" He asked.
"Half an hour." I smiled.
"She is a fast learner." He commented.
(TIME SKIP TILL TWO HOURS LATER)
(Bucky POV)

I had been teaching her the basics of the language and she was catching on very quickly. She understood the basics of the language and could understand when some of the words she knew was being used in a sentence. Soon she grew bored and tired, she shifted her body and laided onto my laps and closed her eyes.
"Noapte buna, ingerul meu. (Goodnight my angel)" I whispered. Soon she was fast asleep on my lap and Sam was looking back at me.

"May I ask just one question." He started. I nodded.
"Where the hell did you find this child?" He asked. I paused.
"I uh, found her in an alleyway in Chișinău. She was uh, living next to a cardboard box so I thought to bring her home with me. We lived together for almost two years, and we moved around a little." I answered him.
"Bucky, we have to give her to child services, we can't bring her into a fight, you know that." Steve said. 'I am not going to let Child Services steal my Gracie from me. If they found out she had powers, everyone would be after her.'
"Steve, there is something you should know about her." I answered. He looked at me through the mirror.
"She is, she is, magically enhanced." I mumbled.
"She's what now?" Sam said.
"She can make thinks move and float with her mind." I say. Steve nodded his head.
"She's like Wanda, she has telekinesis." he answered. I nodded. I then felt her shaking in my arms. I looked down and she had tears falling down her cheeks, she then started to whimper.

"No, please, don't hurt me, please. Bucky! Help me Bucky!" She started screaming. I quickly held her up and pulled her into my chest and rocked her back and forwards. Steve pulled off the road and turned around and watched me slowly sway her back and forwards. I started humming our little lullaby into her ears softly and she started to calm down.

"E în regulă, e în regulă, (It's okay, it's okay,)" I whispered into her ear. "Te-am prins, ești în regulă, în seiful tău. (I've got you, you're okay, your safe)" I pulled away and looked into her scared sea blue eyes. "Ești bine, te voi ține în siguranță, promit, în siguranță. (You're okay, I will keep you safe, I promise, your safe.)" I hummed the lullaby again. She crawled up to me and hugged me tightly.
"Te iubesc Bucky (I love you Bucky)" She whispered.
"Te iubesc păpușă (I love you to doll)" I whispered back.

We got to the place where we were meeting Sharron. I watched carefully as Steve was talking to Sharron and tapped Sam's shoulder as they started to kiss. I made sure Gracie was looking down at the book when they did so. We got our weapons and then made our way to the airport.

(GRACIE POV)

We pulled out into the carpark, and I saw a truck awaiting for us. I waited in the car and watched as multiple people walked out. Bucky sat next to me and told me that he was going to give me gloves and a special medication that would stop my blood nose. He gave me a pill and some water, and I swallowed it. He then helped me putting on some gloves and then gave me and tight hug. He turned me around and started to braid my hair. He finished braiding it and then tied it up and helped me outside. He then grabbed out a small knife and knelt down in front of me.
"Bine, o să îți dau asta și vreau să-l folosești doar dacă este absolut necesar.(Okay I am going to give this to you, and I want you to only use it if it is absolutely necessary.)" He handed it to me, and I held it in my hands. It was a small dagger with a grippy handle that was engraved with my initials, GWB. Bucky had given me a middle name, so my full name was Gracie Winter Barnes. I put the dagger into my pocket that hid It well.

"Mulțumesc, Bucky. (Thank-you Bucky)" I then heard a voice behind me.
"This is cute and all but who is the child, and why is she hugging Barnes?" I turned to see a man that had large bags under his eyes. Bucky pointed at him and then said.

"Antman." I nodded. I then saw an older man with a bow and arrow. Bucky pointed to him.
"Hawkeye." He then pointed to a girl dressed in red who was smiling at me. He pointed to her, and she walked over to me and crouched beside me.
"Hi, I'm Wanda." She smiled; she spoke in a thick accent. I remembered my practise with English and replied to her best I could.

"I'm Gracie, nice to meet you." She smiled up at Bucky and then back to me.
"Nice to meet you too."

"Yeah, I'm Antman nice to meet you. Where is going to go, she is like 5." He exclaimed.
"She is coming with us." Bucky said. They looked at him worried.
"Don't worry, she can handle herself." He answered. Wanda leant down in front of me and looked at me in the eye.
"Do you have powers?" She asked. I looked at Bucky who smiled and then back to her and nodded.
"I do," I answered.
"Me too!" She held up her hand a red mist ran through her fingers. I looked down in awe. I looked at the car beside me and then lifted my hand up and took a deep breath. I then lifted my hand and the car started to rise. I heard people gasp beside me and then I lowered my hand down and returned the car to the ground.
"Foarte bună păpușă, încearcă doar să păstrezi cât mai mult din puterea ta. (Very good doll, just try to keep as much of your power as possible)" I nodded.
"Okay understood, she is coming with us." Antman mumbled. A loudspeaker than echoed through the car park. Bucky looked at Steve and then said.
"They are evacuating the carpark; they know were are here." He said.
"Let's go," Captain America grabbed his shield, and we started walking. I walked holding onto Bucky's arm and then it was time to split up. I was put to go with Clint and Wanda we ran up to the parking lot and watched as Captain America was cornered by Iron Man's team. We waited until Captain put his arms out and Clint shot an arrow cutting the spiderweb keeping them together. We stood up and started running as things outside started exploding. We ran out of the carpark and into the open. I noticed there was a machinery behind us and then things around us started exploding. I feel to my knees and search around. Wanda grabbed my shoulders and hauled me back up to my feet and we continued running. The iron man suit stopped in front of us.
