Chapter 14

                                 JAKE'S POV
Dwight looked disappointed but happy, Leon looked happy to see that my situation was going well, and David looked.. angry. Dwight looked over to David and nudged his arm telling him to stop looking so angry. David looked over at Dwight and nudged him back, making him almost hit his arm into Leon. Dwight apologized to Leon and looked back to me and smiled. I smiled back at him and I sat at the end of the log, next to Leon. "Was that what I think it was?" Leon looked curious, I nodded, Leon was rambling about a bunch of stuff between me and Michael, I don't know what he was saying but it was nice. I wasn't paying attention to him though, I noticed Dwight and David arguing over something, Leon noticed and quieted down a bit. He kept talking so they wouldn't know I was listening, I overheard Dwight say something like "Just stop trying David, it's for your own good." Stop trying what? What did Dwight mean?
      David noticed I was staring and nudged Dwight, "What?" Dwight turned his head my way, Dwight looked worried. David got up and grabbed Dwight's arm, David nudged Dwight but not as hard as earlier. "Oh, uhm.. Jake.. I wanted to ask you if you wanted to hang out with David and I." He sounded hesitant when he said it, like he didn't mean it. "I thought you wanted me to spend time alone?" Dwight looked at David and he looked back at him, Dwight looked scared and said "I know, I just really wanted to...um.." like he didn't even know what to say next. David sighed, and put his hand on Dwight's shoulder, Dwight tensed up. "We- I mean I wanted to hang out a bit more, and.. and.. I invited David." Dwight walked to me and gave me a hug, he didn't go back next to David. He kept hugging me, and he whispered something "Don't trust him" what did he mean?
      Dwight stopped hugging me, waved at me and walked into the darkness. "He said he'll meet us there" David grabbed my hand and made me hold it, I couldn't let go, he was holding my hand too tightly. I wondered where we were going, I could have sworn I saw Michael behind a tree somewhere when we were walking.. it felt like we had been walking forever. "David, where are we going?" He didn't answer, so I asked him again. "Are we even going to see Dwight??" Still, no answer, he was pissing me off. "David, are you even actually fucking listening?! Where. Are. We. Going?!" I gathered enough strength to yank my arm away, David turned around and was about to say something before we heard something ruffle far away. "I'll explain when we get there, Jake, just trust me." As soon as he told me to trust him, I remembered what Dwight said. I decided to trust him though, even if anything happened, Dwight would be there right?
We eventually got there, Dwight was there. I looked relieved when I saw him, Dwight looked like he had been crying but he played it off. "David, I need to talk to Dwight real quick.." he nodded and I walked off to the side with Dwight. "What's wrong, Dwight?" He looked like he didn't want to tell me, but he did. "David doesn't want you and Michael together and he wanted me to have you come here without it seeming suspicious and-" he was saying it too fast and all at once, "What..?" Dwight didn't look at me, he couldn't look at me. He was so supportive of Michael and I, so why hadn't he told me sooner that David felt this way? "Dwight, why didn't you tell me sooner?" "Because I didn't know that it would go this far! I would have told you as soon as I found out it I knew... I'm sorry that you had to find out like this, Jake. Please, promise me you'll follow what your heart says about David and Michael, it won't lie to you. Just promise me." Dwight held out his pinky and smiled, I locked mine in with his. "I promise, I won't let you down" I gave him a hug and we walked back to David.
"It's about time, we don't have much time left. Jake, Michael doesn't like you, he's just using you." I couldn't believe that David would just straight up tell me this, no warning or anything. "Do you have any proof?" Surely he couldn't right? "I don't have any proof, just trust me." I was going to object to that but I could hear Dwight breathing in and out fast, "I have proof that Michael does like Jake.." he muttered, "Dwight, what'd you say? I didn't hear you the first time." David was staring down Dwight, Dwight looked at the ground, "I... have proof.... That Michael does like Jake..."
