When I made it downstairs I heard laughter, a female laughter and his stupid laughter. He should choke on it, yes. I’d be a happy lady. Even though, I don’t know if it’s possible to choke on your own laughter.

“Florence, thanks for amusing him, leave now,” my mother commanded. “My lord,” she greeted as she bowed her head a bit.

Florence passed by me, almost running. Well, she’s probably happy he was flirting with her. If only she knew he was a heartless…ignorant. I stayed a bit behind while my mother entered the room. From my view, I could only see his back as my mother stood in front of him.

“Ah, the lovely Mrs. Browning,” he said kissing her hand. “How have you been? It has been so long.”

“I am very happy due to your visit,” she giggled. “And yes, it has been way too long for our liking.”

 “Our?” He asked confused.

“Yes, Ellie and – where is that girl?” She wondered looking around.

I sighed. This was it. Let’s face this arse.

“I’m right here,” I said lamely.

And that’s when it happened. He turned around and looked directly into my eyes. His royal blue eyes pierced into mine. He was still a gorgeous man. His golden hair was pointing in every direction, it was never long or short, it was a happy medium I suppose you could say. His skin was tanned, and he looked taller. Indeed, he was gorgeous. Within every beauty there is something evil, right?

“Miss Ellie, you look marvelous,” he complimented while flashing his flirty smile.

“Does she, my lord? I apologize for her simplicity, I clearly –”

“I like simplicity, and it suits her,” he took a step forward. “May I kiss your hand, Miss Ellie?”

Nay. I looked up to my mother and she just glared at me and motioned for me to give in.

“Nay,” I decided.

“Nay?” They both asked in unison.

My mother looked furious. He looked amused.

“You are such an ingra– ” my mother began.

“It is alright, I’m not offended. Perhaps this would be a good moment to take that walk I promised, mi lady?” He asked cutting her off.

She hesitated but then nodded.

“Of course, my lord,” she smiled.

Within five minutes we were already in the gardens. Oh, my beautiful gardens covered with pale pink and white roses and trees. The gardens were extremely enormous; even I did not know where they ended. I loved it.

After a bit, my mother cleared her throat.

“I shall leave you two alone from now on, I am truly tired. I am getting old fast, huh?” She joked.

“Oh, never mi lady, you are beautiful,” he smiled.

What a liar. Even I knew my mother was trying to look younger. Even a blind human being could see it, that’s how obvious it was.

She giggled.

“Oh! What a true gentleman are you Lord Timothy. I shall see you two later,” she bowed her head and left.

As soon as she was out of sight he spun me around to face him.

“Why do you loathe me?” He suddenly asked.

Why do I…is he mental, or stupid or perhaps brainless? Yes, perhaps he was truly brainless.

“Well, I do not know,” I began. “Could it be because you’re a liar and quite an arse? Let me tell you this, and let me make myself quite clear. I loathe you, I will not marry you, and I truly hope you drown as soon as you get into a body of water.”
