"And the square root of 25 is 5" I say finishing the last question on the homework assignment before I'm interrupted by the bell ringing. I put my math notebook in my backpack, then i hear my teacher say, "remember to finish the math homework if you didn't finish it in class!"

I already finished it so I didn't have to worry about it. math was my last class of the day which I thought was nice because I've always hated math so I liked that it was my last class.

I walk to my locker which is on the other side of the school, I open it and a letter falls out.

I knew exactly what they wanted to do. I got my science book because I needed to do the science homework and put my math book in the locker and closed it.

I walked out of the building and saw a lot of things. for example: my brother Konner and his girlfriend Samantha Brooks kissing, ugh, Ron and Marcus fighting (again), and a whole bunch of weird shit.

I saw Sarah and Skylar and ran over to them.

"Hey bitch" Skylar said.

"Hey hoes" I said pulling out a pack of Marlboro.

My brother CJ comes around the corner interrupting us.

"You know, smoking kills you 10 years early" he said while crossing his arms.

"That's the point dipshit" I said then flipping him off. I pass Skylar and Sarah a cigarette then I light my own.

I put the cigarette in between my lips and inhale then blow out the smoke. Sarah was rambling on about her boyfriend or something and like that she wants to break up with him, I didn't pay attention because I just didn't care.

"And then he said he hangs out with some guy named mike even though it's clearly a girl. and the thing is, is I-" she said before we are cut off by a Bloody Mary scream.

"What the fuck" I say.

"Probably just one of the girls trying to get attention" Skylar said.

"Yea probably" I said. I look back at them and I'm about to say something until we're interrupted.

"Guys you- you gotta come see this" tony said stuttering a bit.

"What is it?" Sarah said looking worried. Tony looked scared, not like the normal scared, horrified.

"You have to see it to believe it" he said then we all follow him.

We saw a crowd of people and we pushed through it and stop in the middle, and we were horrified by what we saw.

Samantha Brooks (my brother's girlfriend) lying in the middle of the crowd, 

dead.

I look up and saw Konner pushing through the hoard of people and then he saw it.

The ambulance, and the police came.

I was sitting in an ambulance with Skylar, Sarah and Tony. I look over to outside the ambulance to see Konner yelling at some cops.

"WHO THE FUCK DID THIS TO HER!?" he said sobbing his eyes out.

"Konner, we need you to stay calm, okay? when did you last see her?" the officer asks.

After that I just turned my head because I couldn't bare seeing his reaction anymore.

After about 30 minutes, some reporters came to the school and some of the kid's parents. The cops started calling the kids in one-by-one "interrogating" them.

Skylar went in then came back out.

"What'd they ask you?" Tony said.

"Just like my home life, and how I knew Sam" she said sitting down.

"Nanette Fraser" a cops said. I get up and walk into the place where they are doing it.

"Okay, we are just gonna ask some simple questions, ok?" one of the cops said.

"Ok"

"So, what's your full name?"

"Nanette Aubrey Fraser"

"Any siblings?"

"3, two older one younger"

"Names?"

"Konner, CJ, and Zach"

"Oh, so Ms. brooks was dating your brother"

"Yes"

"Ok um, how's your home life?"

"Um I don't know. normal, I mean if you call losing your dad after killing himself and your mom drinking and getting into drugs normal, then yea"

The cops look at each other concerned for me, then turn back to me.

"Ok last question. what was Ms. Brooks to you?"

"I mean we didn't really talk; I just only saw her when she came over to my house with Konner"

"Ok that's it, thank you for your time" he said smiling. I walked out and saw Konner in a chair with his head in his knees. he looks up at me, I sit down next to him and hug him tightly.

After a lot of the kid's parents came and took them home. Skylar, Sarah and tony already left so I was just behind the building smoking. i put the cigarette near my lips, I thought about the first time I smoked. it was 5th grade, and it was me and Skylar in the bathrooms, we almost got caught but Sarah saved us by distracting the principal by her looks because he's obviously a pedophile.

I inhale the air and it smelled so good. it's insane how something like this could happen on such a warm beautiful normal day. I looked around the corner to see CJ walking up, I get up, drop my cigarette and stomp on it.

"Hey moms' here"

"Coming" I say grabbing my bag then following CJ.

We got in the car; it was silent the whole time. I kinda liked it, we weren't yelling at each other. (Which is very rare) I tried to think about something else, but I couldn't. All I could think about was that scream.
