Letters to Clea: On heaven.

Heaven isn't Eden
Its man's consuming curiosity that reached the cosmos and brought the fall.

Heaven isn't Niravan.
It's the little victories on the road to tranquility.

Heaven isn't a city of roses.
It's the red thread of fate unifying lovers.

Heaven isn't arcadia.
It's the simple joy found in nature.

Heaven isn't avalon.
Its love, love for our mothers and brothers.

But you Clea,
blanketed in your ignorance
searching for something unlost.
A mythological dreamland to set root in.

Heaven is right here before you.
All around you,
from the miracle of life to the quiet dignity of death,
from the clouds pregnant with rain to the parched sands of the Sahara,
from the battlefields to tender secrets whispered amongst lovers.

Heaven isn't a place we go in death.
Heaven is here! On earth!
