Mr. Jeon looked at Mr. Kim, even with the smiling face the other was giving, he could see the regret and longines his eyes. Even after all these years he could read him like an open book. He balled his fingers into a fist and looked down.
'It may be a mistake for you, but it will never be a mistake for me. And stop acting all mature in front of me Jongwoon...' he said, looking at Mr Kim, who smiled more at his words.
'40 years... It's been 40 years, hyung, since I heard you call my name...' Mr. Kim said, smiling even wider. Like a kid who got candy for the first time... But his smile soon died down when Mr Jeon glared at him.
'Hyung... don't glare at me... What do kids these days tell each other...? Yaaaa!! Chill Hyung! Chill!' he said, smiling sweetly again.
'Then don't say something like that again...' Mr Jeon said more sternly and seriously.
'You think I love to think like that... No hyung! Never I've loved to think like that. But I taught my heart to react like that every time, so as to numb all the pain of losing you, and leaving our love behind... Only if we were strong enough to stand for us...' Mr.Kim said with a heavy voice, looking at the other, who had his face hung low.
He raised his eyes at the other, smiling a little. He didn't change a bit... His train of thoughts were interrupted when the waiter came in and placed a cup of coffee and a cup of tea in front of them. The waiter bowed to them respectfully and thanked them.
'Cup of tea' His taste hadn't changed either...
They both took the cups and sipped. The awkwardness crawled back again and this time it was broken by Mr. Kim.
'How are you doing Hyung? How is life?' he asked, taking a sip from his tea, eyes sparkling with curiosity to know about his hyung's life.
Mr Jeon chuckled at that.
'I am doing good. I am happy. Area is a wonderful woman, an amazing wife. She can keep up with me very well. She is a good mother and a good wife. I love her. I love her very much. And kids... You saw Kook...He is a little sassy bunny and have high temper like me - don't get fooled by his cuteness!' he chuckled to himself. 'And Yoongi is a copycat of his mother, vicious and kind. And Jin, my son in law... You know him, right?' He asked Mr Kim, who nodded his head in confirmation. 'He is the best match for my lazy son. He could make the whole house break into laughter by his jokes... and he takes care of my son very well. My family makes me happy... So I am happy' he said with a content smile.
'You deserve all happiness, hyung... I am happy you found your happiness...' Mr. Kim said genuinely happy for the other man.
He looked at his smiling face, feeling a huge weight lifted out from his heart.
'It was easy to replace me, right?' he asked jokingly, but he regretted it as soon as he saw the smile swiped off from his hyung's face.
'Who told you I replaced you? Huh?' Mr Jeon asked with a voice laced in anger and betrayal. 'You are still in my heart. A place where no one ever entered. You are there... Still there! And will be there till I die. I love my wife, that's not a lie. I truly love her. But for me the definition of love for you and her is different. And no matter how I tried I can't change that. In this life I chose her. But someone promised me we will be together in the next life. So until then they have a place in my heart which can't be replaced by anyone.' Mr. Jeon said in a single breath and heaved a sigh out loud when he finished.
Mr Kim looked at him with tears brimming his eyes. He wiped them off with his palm before it could roll down.
'That promise remains the same hyung. I don't want to lose you in the next life too. And your place in my heart was never replaced by anyone and never will...' Mr. Kim said with a determined voice.
