Last night was so perfect.
I texted Bailey when I got home, and she called me.
"Dude. You were so awesome tonight." She said. "You took the ball from ALEX MORGAN."
"And-"
"And you gave an assist to Mal Pugh. And you got to play next to Julie Ertz, and in front of Alyssa Naeher."
It really hit me that those are 3 world cup winners, and I also stopped another one's game winner.
"I kissed Mace as well."
"No way!" She giggled.
"Oh yes way!" I smiled.
"So what are you going to do?"
"Hope he asks me out I guess."
"Don't hope. Make him."
"How?"
"Or just do it yourself."
We talked for a little while longer, and then I was super tired so I went to sleep.
The next morning, I practically jumped out of bed, and I couldn't wait to see Mace later.
Most days it was just him and I now, because Zach had gone to training camp in Arizona. Julie missed him, and so did I. Mace did as well.
He came to visit us, and we had a trip planned to visit him next weekend because we didn't have a game. We had a midweek game instead.
I've gotten Mace into watching soccer with me, and he's gotten me into baseball. I've always been a football fan because of Zach.
Today Mace came to the front door with a gift bag in his hand.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Just a little present for last night." He smiled. "Just a congrats present."
"You didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to."
I invited him in, and I opened it at the kitchen table.
The first thing was a baseball glove that had red stars on it, and my name and number stitched on the back of it.
"That's a little first cap present. I know you would have liked something soccer related more, but-"He started.
"I love it. So much." I gave him a hug, and then I went for it and kissed him again.
He was turning red, and I felt my cheeks doing the same.
"And, um, I was also wondering if you wanted to go out with me tonight." He said nervously. "To dinner."
"I would love to."
"So I'm going to head out now, but I'll see you at....7:00?"
"Sounds great." I smiled, and walked him to the door.
"See you later." He said.
"See ya."
He walked out, and I ran upstairs to Julie.
----------
Our first date was great honestly. It was so easy, so simple.
But the next day, after practice, Julie and I had to settle out contract stuff.
The Red Stars wanted to sign me through the beginning of my school year, and then after that I was just a part of the home game day stuff.
We signed contracts with lawyers and everything. It was relatively hard, because Julie had just freshly gotten custody of me officially about 2 weeks ago.
But everything worked out.
That was a whole thing with 2 days in a courtroom, and because my parents didn't show up it was even more difficult, but we got it settled.
I was also going to go visit Bailey one time before school started, which I was so excited about.
I was contemplating Julie I didn't want to go to school and just wanted to be home schooled, but I felt bad after she made all the arrangements for me.
Also my 16th birthday is coming up. August 8th. That number really does love my family.
Everything was going so well in life right now, so different than anything I was used to.
Also my parents never texted me about my NWSL debut. And it hurt a little bit. But I'm sure they have literally no idea. They don't care.
