Making History

Mace came over to hang out, but then he left for dinner because Julie just wanted it to be us two. He kind of got the hint that Julie wanted just us so he knew to leave.

When I got back from walking him home, Zach was on FaceTime with us, and Julie had set out two plates with dinner on it.

"Hey kid!" Zach said happily.

"Hey Zach! How's Arizona?"

"Hot." He laughed.

We talked for a little bit longer, and then Julie said it.

"Britney, we wanted to tell you that after some thought and consideration, we decided, only if you wanted, to get you a home school tutor so you can finish out the season with the Red Stars."

I think my jaw dropped so low it hit the floor.

"Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Please yes."

"You don't want to think about it?"

"Nope. I hate school with a burning passion. I'm out, suckers. See ya never."

"Are you absolutely sure?"

"Oh yes. I don't need to hear anything more."

"Are you-"

"Julie, I never ever want to see that stupid school again. Get me out."

"Alright. I'll start working on things tonight." She said. "But you are going to have to go to school at least tomorrow and probably Wednesday."

"That's fine. As long as that's it, I'm cool."

"I can get your contract tomorrow, we just need to get the lawyers so you can sign....I know of a few really good tutors...." She grabbed her phone and started writing stuff down.

"Can I tell Bailey?" I asked.

"Just wait on that until everything is finalized."

"Okay." I said, then I was quiet for a minute. "How about Tatumn?"

"If you want."

"Really?"

"Mhm."

"Can I tell Mace?"

"I'd wait."

"So I can only tell people on the team?"

"Bingo."

The next 2 days were my last at school ever, and I couldn't be happier.

"See ya never, bitches!" I said as I ran from the school to Tatumn's car and flung myself in the front seat.

"Contract day!" She said happily.

"Contract day!" I repeated, and we drove off to go make me an official Red Star once again.

She dropped me off at the building where Julie already was, and I assumed she'd stay but she left.

Before I walked in, someone threw a Red Stars hat at me. I was already wearing a t-shirt because I'd worn it to school. I put on the hat and walked in, Julie and Zach were both sitting at the table.

"Zach!" I said happily, running to give him a hug. He hadn't been home in a while, and it was nice to see him here.

I sat at the head of the table, and they went over the whole contract.

Basically it was a special one, saying I was here for as long as Julie was here OR I was on a 2 year contract.

The first part was just because I'm a minor and she's my legal guardian. The second part is because after 2 more seasons after this one, I'll be 18 and can make my own decisions and live on my own. And obviously part of it was to have me finish out this season.

There were a few cameras around too, one taking pictures and the other a video.

After that, I put on a kit and did some more media stuff since I didn't do a lot last time.

Then I got changed into my other clothes and took pictures in the stands for whatever reason, and I also took a video.

"Hey Chicago! Britney Johnston here. I hope you know how excited I am to play for this city and this club. I'm looking forward to it! See you all soon!"

I realized I would have to quit playing for my other club team, the not professional one. I didn't let that bother me, because I was so excited to be here with the Red Stars.

On the drive home, I texted Bailey and told her I'd call her later. I also got the pictures of me signing, so I posted them on Instagram.

I put one of just me first, then Julie and I, and then Julie, Zach and I.

'Dreams really do some true....' Is what I put first as the caption, then I spaced down a few times and wrote 'So excited to have signed my first real contract and even more excited to step on the field for this city again. LFG.'

When we got home, I wanted to call Bailey right away, but Julie told me no.

I got upset at her and asked why, but she told me to just wait as we walked into the house.

"SURPRISE!" A bunch of people yelled as I walked into the kitchen.

There were red white and blue decorations all around the table, a cookie cake and a real cake, and some presents.

It was all of my now-official teammates and my boyfriend.

"It's not my birthday though!" I laughed.

"Nope! But you did sign an official contract today!" Mallory said. "Look! We got it written on the cake and the official banner!"

I looked at the banner and smiled. 'Congrats On Your First Contract, Britney!'

"The cake was me!" Ella Stevens smiled.

"I got the banner!" Said Sarah Griffith.

"And we set up the decorations!" Arin Wright high-fived Mallory.

"And I picked you up from school!" Said Tatumn happily, and everyone laughed.

"You all didn't have to do this!" I told them, starting to make my rounds with hugs.

"I mean you are making history so...." Ella trailed off.

"I guess." I said as I gave Sarah a hug. Then I turned to face her. "But that was a little while ago."

"Well you're making club history right now." Julie smiled.

Those words hit me hard, because I really did just make history.
