❝But somebody has to go to the Eyyubi Palace, Hayme,❞ Suleyman Shah coughed as he saw his wife flinch at the mention of the said palace. ❝And Ertugrul is our best warrior, you do know that.❞

❝Suleyman,❞ She narrowed her eyes at her husband. ❝Do you really think it would be right to send Ertugrul there? Seeing her would break my son again.❞

❝He's a warrior,❞ Suleyman Shah spoke nonchalantly. ❝Besides, it's been years. The girl must have been married with kids. He ought to forget her now.❞

❝But still-❞

❝End of discussion, Hayme,❞ He waved his hand in dismissed and held her hand in his. ❝Trust me. I am doing this for his welfare. I am tired of seeing my son like that.❞

All Hayme could do was muster a nod because even she knew that this would do no good to Ertugrul.

She had expected a livid reaction from Ertugrul but all he did was nod. That same far fetched nod. She felt as if she had lost his son. He wasn't the same anymore. Gone was that cheeky smile, leaving behind just plain sadness.

Hayme smiled sadly as she saw his heart broken numb son gallop away.

The Eyyubi Palace was lit with candlelights everywhere, just as the Emir Al Aziz preferred it to be. On the little throne beside him sat his twin sons, both five years old each. A clap motioned from his hands and the very second, an Eyyubi soldier entered inside.

❝Did the Kayi head choose his ambassador?❞ He asked the soldier.

❝Yes, my Lord,❞ The soldier bowed down. ❝Suleyman Shah has chosen his son, Ertugrul.❞

❝Ertugrul, hm?❞ A sly smirk spread around his lips. ❝That's good. Very good, in fact. Send my wife in here.❞

As per his orders, he soon found his wife taking shy steps towards him and a cruel smile tugged his lips. He motioned her to come closer. ❝The epitome of your unsuccessful love, your old lover is coming. Ertugrul is coming.❞

A moment of silence passed.

He spoke again. ❝Ertugrul, woman, Ertugrul! Son of Suleyman Shah.❞

❝I remember, My Lord.❞

❝It's good that you remember him, my love,❞ He ran his fingers around her hair locks. ❝Because you and the Shehzades will be the one hosting our guest.❞

❝As you command, my Lord,❞ She bowed down in front of him, her submission impressing him.

❝After all, wouldn't Ertugrul be happy seeing Halime Sultan and her children?❞

The Emir Al Aziz threw a last glance to his wife and his children and smirked inwardly, knowing that this was the only thing that would cripple Ertugrul for eternity.
