'One day in class, you decide to scream something in your head to catch mind readers. As you do so, you see your crush flinch.'

Math class. The bane of my existence and my greatest weakness. And as a loner, it doesn't get any better.

As I entered the classroom, I heard the angels singing as he passed by.

Abel. The imaginary flowers surrounded him and I was engulfed in his rosy scent.

'Oh Abel,' I thought 'When will you ever not be glorious? It's like when God was creating people in Teomsburg, he accidentally gave you all the perks, leaving others with nothing.'

And it's true. I'm not saying this through the glasses of the roses surrounding him as he passed by and I'm definitely not saying this because I had a crush him. He was just built different.

He glanced back at me and raised an eyebrow, almost as if he heard what I said.

'Shoot! Run away! Run! Away!' I panicked in my head as I sped up. Glancing back I saw that he had a strange look on his face; like a mixture of amusement and frustration.

'Did I say that out loud?'  I asked myself while sitting down in my designated seat. Glancing at him again, his expression was normal. He didn't look at me anymore so I probably imagined the frown. Shrugging, I just decided to bask in his glory instead.

Class started soon after and I was already lost (story of my life). Bored out of my life, a question popped into my head-
"Who would win between Goku and Saitama if they fought at full power?"

A snort came from beside me, followed by a-
"Saitama of course!"

Slowly, I turned my head to Abel beside me and blinked slowly.
"I'm sorry, what?"

He glanced at me and did a double take, a look of horror on his face.

"You totally just read my mind."

"No I didn't." He replied facing forward.

"Um yeah, you did." I clarified. "I was thinking about who would win between Goku and Saitama and you totally just said 'Saitama of course'. "

"You just said that out loud." He answered, still not facing me but his face was red.

"Mr Davis, Ms Benz? Is there a problem back there?" The teacher called out.

"Uh, no ma'am."
"No Miss."
Abel and I replied together.

"Then keep it down back there." She said, giving us a stern look.

When she looked away, I hissed at Abel, "Later!"

He didn't reply.

Abel didn't meet me later. Or the next few days. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was avoiding me. So I decided to watch him.
Not in a stalker-ish way but in a detective way.
I watched all his interactions with other, noticing that he seemed to answer questions that weren't asked. No one seemed to think it was weird though. His friends just seemed to laugh it off.
All my research pointed towards him being a mind-reader.
It seemed unfathomable. My seemingly normal crush of over a year was an actual frickin mind reader. I had to confirm my theories though. Only one way to find out!

The next day, I got to school super early. All my stalki- I mean detective work on Abel showed me that he usually came to school early. I snuck into class, careful to keep my mind empty and saw Abel in all in marvelous glory, teetering dangerously on his chair.

'Good morning Abel.' I thought.

"Morning." He replied out loud.

"Ah-ha!" I exclaimed in triumph.

He promptly leaned back to far, when I startled him and crashed to the floor.

"Oh my Zeus! Are you alright?" I asked, rushing towards him to help him up.

"I'm okay." He replied, rubbing the back of his head and got up.

We stood in silence. Then he said-
"You probably wanna know the truth now huh?"

Biting my lip, I nodded anxiously.

"Here goes. I'm a mind-reader." He started. "But you already figured that out. My family has this bloodline thing where every first born has the ability to read minds. It's been with us for centuries and no one has gotten caught before. Well, before me. Me and my frickin dumb butt." He finished, closing his eyes.

But I was listening with my eyes wide open and I was amazed. I imagined my eyes had stars in them as I looked up at Abel.

"Whoa! You're like- like an MC in an anime or something." I marvelled.

He looked at me and chuckled, like he wasn't surprised at my reaction.

"Hey, do you like level up maybe when you've read a certain number of people's minds or something?" I inquired my eyes still shining.

"No, it doesn't work that way. I mean, it gets stronger as I grow older, so I guess that's like leveling up?" He stated.

"Whoa!" I said again. Coming to my senses a little bit, I said, "I won't tell anyone so don't worry."

"Oh, I'm not worried." He replied and noticing my questioning look, he went further to say:
"I mean, I've been reading your mind for over a year now, so I know you're pretty much trustworthy. Besides, your mind is a very amusing thing to read. Your internal monologue is especially interesting."

Nodding, I thought it made sense in a way.

"Wait, does that mean you've known I had a crush on you?"
