03 | Little Devil

I was about to back out. The idea of doing lord knows what with a group of four guys I hardly knew.

Yes, this meant I did know them but not any more than anyone else around here. After the diner last night I got home and did a bit of digging on social media. They looked familiar but I wasn't sure from where.

Until I reached the first guy's account. Hyunjin is, a very pretty guy-super intimidating but from what I saw last night he isn't a bad guy. Felix his boyfriend I presume, was the light of the group, followed by Changbin-his social media was empty, nothing on it just plain. Now, Han, he didn't have social media but there were pictures of him on Felix's and Hyunjin's.

Now how do I know them? Well, they use to go to school with me until they dropped out-nobody really sees them around here anymore. Sophomore year, the beginning of it was when they just left-disappeared and it was only talked about for a week until the students found other and better things to talk about.

Rumor has it they moved away to the town over, it's a rumor and I doubt it's true. Everyone knows if you find your way out of here, it will be far far away.

You see, they didn't have family, they had each other. Everyone knew they grew up in the local foster home together, it was no secret and it wasn't like they hid it from others. They were the type to not care if people knew, they didn't care what people thought at all. So leaving, it wasn't a big shock.

My hesitance in joining them tonight wasn't because I was afraid of them, it was simply because I was afraid of what tonight will lead to. They were always known as troublemakers, I knew tonight wouldn't just be a hangout but that part excited me.

I sigh and stare at the ceiling, I got home a few hours ago. All day school I pretended like I wasn't asked to hang out with the four guys everyone once talked so much shit about. I didn't tell my friend, I didn't tell them anything.

I sit up and figure if I was gonna do it, this was my only chance. My life was boring, I was a good kid most of my life-more like I was scared of my parents so I did everything they wanted and asked of me.

What's one night of fun?

I stand up and grab my phone from the bed, walking to the mirror after and looking at myself. I never really cared about my appearance, I would make I looked presentable but not more than that.

Tonight, I felt unsatisfied.

I force myself to look away, knowing I needed to leave. I walk out of my room and down the hall, slipping on my shoes when I get to the door and putting on my coat.

I walk out of the house and the cold air hits my face. Fall was always my favorite, it was the time when you pulled out your sweaters and could snuggle up in blankets while watching movies without feeling guilty about it.

I walk off my porch and begin my walk to the park, the crunching of the fallen leaves under my shoes as I take a step to the park I use to go to when I was little.

I kept my head up, looking at the familiar surrounding. I lived here my whole life. It's all I know, I've never traveled-not even to the next town over. My parents travel a lot, they are always gone for work.

We didn't live in a big house or have a lot of money, my dad has a small business and my mom is a lawyer.

I reach the park and butterflies roam my stomach as I see the four in the distance. Felix was slinging while laughing loudly, Hyunjin pushed him with a smile on his face. They looked happy.

Changbin was sitting on a bench with Han, they both talked and Han would nod here and there.

I inhale, preparing myself for what I'm about to walk into. Exhaling and walking closer to the two on the bench.

"Hi" I spoke up as I approached them. Han looks at me and so does Changbin.

Han didn't show much emotion as he said "You came"

I awkwardly shift on my feet and nod "I did"

"Minho!!"

I turn to see Felix running up to us and shockingly wrapping his arms around me to give me a tight hug. I was tense at first, not used this affection. Jeongin loved to hug but I think he senses my discomfort, he doesn't try to hug me much anymore.

I hesitantly wrap my arms around him and Felix sways us making me stumble a bit. "Hi" I chuckle awkwardly.

"Okay, that's enough Felix. The poor boy looks as if he wants to run away" Hyunjin says.

Felix unwrapped his arms. "Sorry, I just really love giving hugs and I think I may be the best hug giver," Felix says matter-a-factly.

"Changbin needs a hug," Han says, making Felix turn and smirk.

Making grabby hands to Changbin. Changbin gets up and runs away as Felix runs after him. Hyunjin chuckles and shakes his head, sitting where Changbin was.

"Sit, we don't bite," Han says.

Sit? Between them?

I inhale sharply and nod, sitting down. Felix and Changbin ran around the park, and Felix's laugh is heard.

"We don't usually do this" Hyunjin speaks up.

My fingers fiddle with each other, as I stare ahead at the two running around.

"Can we trust you?" Han says softly, "I feel like we can, but I want to hear you say it"

I look at him, his does like eyes staring back at me. Waiting for my answer. I nod slowly "Y'all can trust me"

The corner of his lips twitched up briefly, if I wasn't looking at him I would have missed it.

"I'm the Boogeyman" My head snaps to Hyunjin, frozen and not moving.

He chuckles at my reaction, Felix and Changbin walking back to us-out of breath. "What's going on?" Felix asks, still trying to catch his breath.

"Hyunjin said he's the Boogeyman"

They all look at each other, Felix tries to hold his smile back.

"What? I'm kinda getting confused here"

Han sits up and leans his elbows on his knees, looking at me "We're all the Boogeyman"

I chuckle nervously "Huh?"

"We're the Boogeyman, or whatever y'all call us," Changbin says.

"No I heard I just-I thought it was only one guy"

"No, y'all got it all wrong"

I look down "So tonight-"

"You will join us on our adventures," Felix says, I look up and laugh.

"You make it sound like we're going to some sort of amusement park," I said and the others laughed, even Changbin chuckled a little bit.

I look down again and nod, Looking back up and looking at the others "So when do we start?"

"Slow down little devil, we start at sundown," Han says.
