~Tessa~

Tessa froze in place as she watched the hideous creature admire John's heart. Her stomach churned when it slowly licked up along its blood-covered arm before its long tongue passed over the organ.

"I knew he would taste like a coward," it sneered, throwing the heart to the Rogues as if it were a treat for a dog. Tessa watched appalled as they fought over it until a chill brought her attention back to the red eyes of the beast.

"He was talking way too much," it huffed in annoyance as it stepped over John's lifeless body. "Attack," it ordered, waving its hand carelessly in the air.

In seconds, the Rogues charged forward clumsily running into one another, snapping their jaws. Tessa wasted no time in signaling her snipers to pick off the first wave with their silver bullets, causing them to instantly fall to the ground. The beast snarled in anger signaling all the Rogues to attack at once.

"Stay in groups," Tessa ordered, taking off through the field. Her warriors charged with her, ready to tear into flesh and protect their home.

Everything was happening so quickly. The quiet air became filled with cries of pain as many Rogues took their last breath. Tessa remained in her human form, sending Rogue after Rogue to their grave, while Zander and Cadence fought at her side, killing just as many.

Blood splattered her body as she tore another wolf's throat out. She loved the way her enemies coward before her, contemplating their next move. Eventually, they sealed their fate and attacked. "Fools," her wolf growled as Tessa dropped another body.

As the fight went on, Tessa noticed many Rogues were laying lifeless in the field, but from where she stood, she saw no pack warriors among them. "What's our mortality rate," she asked Zander.

"Only five pack members have been incapacitated, Alpha," Zander answered, between blows.

"We shouldn't be too relieved. Rogues are known to never spare anyone. It's against their nature," her wolf thought as they observed their attacks.

"You're right. None of them seem to be going for the kill," Tessa noted in confusion, but soon another wave of Rogues tore out of the woods seeking blood. Tessa knew she had to cut off the head of the snake, but the beast remained on the edge of battle, eagerly pacing the perimeter.

"We need to get over there," Tessa thought, finally shifting into her wolf. She stood dominating over the others.

"Don't stop until they're all dead," she ordered through their link as she took off for the leader. Both Cadence and Zander tried to follow her. "No! Stay together," she shouted, using her Alpha command refusing to look back at them.

Cadence growled in disagreement, but she couldn't refuse. Tessa could feel their eyes on her as they desperately tried to keep up with her movements through the chaos, but refocused her attention as she charged through the battle.

Any Rogue in her way was quickly killed as her eyes remained set on their leader. Its body shook with anticipation after each step she took and joy filled its blood-thirsty eyes as it gazed over the lifeless corpses in her wake.

"Sick bastard," her wolf growled, but suddenly stopped their assault a few yards away. "This is too easy," her wolf warned as the hairs on her back stood at attention.

Something in the air had shifted and they both realized the Rogues stopped attacking her. Instead, they were keeping everyone away from Tessa making sure the path to the creature was clear.
