" — are you even listening to what I am trying to tell you Victoria", my mom yells at me through the phone.

I pinch the bridge of my nose and already know that I'm going to get a migraine from this call. "Mom, we've had this conversation countless of times... I know what I am and am not supposed to do. Also, I know that you and dad are under a lot of stress about the new restaurant opening in New York."

I hear my mom sigh through the phone and I already know what she's going to tell me. "Look Victoria, I'm telling this for your own good and because I love you. I'm not telling you this to bring you down. Look I have to go help your dad with some of the paperwork for the new restaurant. Make sure to call us before you fly out tomorrow okay."

"Okay mom, te quiero. Make sure to tell dad I said hello."

"Okay, te quiero también. Bye."

I drop my phone onto my bed and assess how much packing I have left. Shocking. I basically still have my whole check-in bag to pack, so that means no sleep for me...

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

SHIT. SHIT. SHIT. I'm late. First I woke up later than I expected, then traffic, and now the long security line. Can this day get any worse? I knew I should have woken up when the first alarm went off. Hopefully, there is enough time for me to get coffee. I desperately need that coffee, since I kept tossing and turning at night.

Forty minutes pass and I am finally walking to my gate. I check my watch to see how much time until my flight takes off. Great, only ten minutes. I guess I'll just have to get coffee on the plane. As I am boarding the plane I received a few messages from my family group chat.

Mom: Don't forget about what we told you on the phone call. Have a safe flight and tell us when you land, love you.

Andrea: Love you loser. Have lots of fun and don't forget to send pictures!

Emma: *inserts British gif*

Emma: The United Kingdom here comes Victoria! Love you baby sis, have fun!

I put away my phone as I continue walking through the gate to get to the plane and I can feel tears streaming down my cheek. As the flight takes off a couple of minutes later, I put on my headphones and listen to music to help me doze off. I feel sleep about to engulf me and all I can think of is this new chapter in my life I am about to embark on. So, United Kingdom, please be good to me.
