A/N: This is LONG overdue. This was supposed to be done by the end of April... at which point my entire family's health tanked. I am sick once again while posting this. I didn't want to go on another accidental hiatus, but here we are. Please enjoy Little Majesty Chapter 1.
I pursed my lips, and my hair and makeup were done. I was corseted and shoved into a dress.
My coronation dress. Crap, what am I doing?
I wrung my hands and paced back and forth. "How much longer?" I inquired.
My handmaiden, Helga, fluffed the gown behind me and straightened me out. "You look beautiful, Your Highness." She said, curtsying slightly.
I smiled briefly, and turned and someone knocked on the door.
Helga rushed to open the door. "Oh! Lord Viggo! You can't be in here, it's bad luck!"
I groaned. "Let him in, Helga. We're not getting married for goodness sake."
He slipped past her and dismissed her. "You truly look like a queen, Astrid."
"Giving yourself titles, already, Viggo? 'Lord', really?"
"I'd prefer prince..."
"Over my dead body. You'd be lucky if you got a knighthood if I have anything to say about it. Oh! You can be one of my ladies in waiting." I said, picking a hair off my dress.
"I can arrange the dead body..."
"Mutually assured destruction, Viggo. Don't get cocky. I already almost killed you once. I don't have to worry about dying. I have pull with both the Valkyries and my Aunt. If you die, however, my Aunt will torture you beyond anything you can imagine. I imagine the Valkyries aren't too pleased with you meddling either."
He growled slightly. "Just remember I can kill your family."
"I can kill you. And again, I have pull with both the honourable and dishonourable dead. You don't have as much power as you think. Your most valuable piece was Odin, and you sacrificed him. What now?" I said, turning around.
He paused a moment. "Stick with the plan. That's what now. Mutually assured destruction."
"So the only thing you have left is the possibility that I'm going to kill you?"
"Or the possibility that I'll kill you. I like that idea very much."
"Nice to know." I huffed, moving around him.
I stormed out the door. "Helga, I dismiss you. Not him. Okay? He has a nasty habit of threatening me."
Her eyes became the size of dinner plates. I'm sorry, Highness! I can get a guard!"
"No, I can handle myself. Just don't leave unless I say. He's got a god complex on toilet scrubber power."
She snorted. "I don't know what a toilet is, but I'll have to use that."
"Knock yourself out, hun. The coronation is starting, let's get going."
She followed behind me as I made my way towards the grand hall. Someone placed a robe on my shoulders.
I stood, waiting behind doors that rose from the floor to nearly the ceiling.
Screams and cheers sounded from behind the doors, and I swallowed down the bile that rose in my throat.
The doors were pushed open, slowly but surely. Cheering and screaming sounded around me. Heimdall stood and the end of the way.
I'm going to hurl.
