3RD PERSON POV

Yuichiro couldn't believe that Mika had returned to that place. It had been a long time since he last needed to do so, so why return now? His pea brain didn't have enough capacity to try to come up with a solution, hence he just sat on the front door waiting for his friend to return.

Thanks to the loud sounds he made while waking up, Y/N awoke as well. She still felt tired, but she went to check out the origin of whatever made her deep sleep be interrupted. To her surprise, Mikaela was nowhere to be seen and Yuu was staring at the door, for some unknown reason.

"Yuu, what are you doing up this late?"
"Oh, hello there Y/N. When I woke up, Mika wasn't anywhere in the house so I'm waiting here for him to return so I can scold him quickly."
"Why would Mika go out this late? It doesn't seem right, and maybe he's in danger..." You replied worried for your friend.
"It... It's something he used to do before when we were in a much difficult situation to help us survive." Yuu started his story, the story of how they managed to keep their lives going until this very moment.

When we first arrived here, we had no place to sleep nor guaranteed food everyday. They were extremely difficult times for us all, especially for Mika. He couldn't keep going knowing that his family was suffering, so he decided to take extreme measures. At the time we agreed that it was the best we could do, because if we said otherwise he probably wouldn't be the same person as we know today.

These measures consisted in negotiating with the most powerful vampire in the city at our reach, Lord Ferid.
At first I wasn't fond of the idea, but Mika insisted.

"Mika, you can't go risking your life like that dumbass! What if that blood sucker decides to kill everyone, or if he takes too much blood from you? There are too many dangers, I can't possibly let you go alone..."
"Yuu, please, we have to do something. The way we are living right now isn't good enough, and we have an opportunity to change it. Yuu-chan, I don't care at all about how dangerous it may be, because you know that I would do anything to keep my family safe. There is no reason to fret, I will return.
In how many pieces? That's another story."

After abruptly finishing his conversation with me, Mika parted ways from me and entered Barthory's mansion.

Three hours later, he returned with a bag full of quality food and a vial connected to his arm.

Y/N was shocked by what Yuichiro had just narrated. She didn't know just how much everyone had suffered, it made her feel devastated. If that wasn't enough worry, Mika had returned to the location where he was in most risk of dying.

"Yuu, do you have any ideas as to why he could have gone there?"
"Not really, that's why I'm waiting for him to come back so I can ask him"
"We have to go look for him! Now that you aren't alone, it's not as dangerous."
"Now that I think it more thoroughly, you are right Y/N. Let's hurry, come on."

Both Yuichiro and Y/N left their safe place and appeared in the midst of darkness that night showed. The only source of light came from hanging candles, most of them almost consumed, which foreshadowed that they had to be quick.
As soon as their legs could, the pair arrived at the entrance of a grand mansion, where they found an extremely weak Mikaela struggling to keep his balance. They hurried to help him up, and led him to their home.

"Y/N, Yuu, I'm sorry-"
"Shut." Yuu interrupted him. "First things first, you need to regain your strength. Only then we will scold you, understood?"
"...Fine" Mika gave in.
"Y/N, could you please prepare food for Mika while I try to him and I lead him to our bedroom?" Yuu asked.
"Of course, I'll talk with him once you're done"

Yuichiro and Mikaela both sat alone in their shared dorm. No one dared to say anything, due to the heavy atmosphere. Yuichiro's menacing gaze was more than enough to make Mikaela feel regretful though. After a few minutes, Yuu opened his mouth.

"Why did you return?"

"..."

"Why?"

"We are saved, Yuu. I have found our hope."
