Chapter Three
Reorum
I could not focus for the life of me. My head was reeling from the smell of Carter's cologne and the amount of weed I'd just inhaled.
Carter had become a raging machine and couldn't keep his hands- or his mouth- off of me. Not that I minded.
I was tired beyond belief, so I just let him go crazy on me. I was sure I'd have hickeys later. Carter pulled away from me, breathing hard and leaning against my bedroom wall. I heard the front door open.
"Simon, I'm home! You here?" I held up a hand so Carter would stay, and went into the kitchen. Mum was unloading bags of groceries.
"Eww, sweetie, you reek! Carter here?" She asked, wrinkling her nose at me. "Yeah. Oh, and don't be surprised if I've got hickeys tonight. Carter's crazy when he's high," I explained. Mum chuckled. "Don't get too... Close... I don't want to be here if you boys are getting it on," mum teased, nudging me with her elbow. I rolled my eyes, and, to mum's dismay, stole a bag of Chex mix. Carter was grateful for that.
I made him lay down- tried to get him to sleep off some of the high. Finally after a quick snogging session, he obliged. I let him cuddle me like I was a teddy-bear. I felt myself drift off into a deep, dreamless sleep.

"Boys! Boys! Wake up!" I opened my eyes. "Carter needs to go home now, sweetheart," Mum said softly. Carter's arms tightened around my waist. Mum laughed softly and stepped out of the room.
I spun around to face Carter
"Carter, baby. Carterrrrr. Wake up, love," I coaxed. His eyes, bright green and not quite alert, fluttered open.
"Hmm? Whassgoin'on?" He asked drowsily. I kissed his forehead.
"My mum said you have to go home now."
"Bitch," he mumbled. I smiled, sitting up. "C'mon, Carter. Get up, you great lump." Carter sat up, burying his face in the hollow at the base of my neck. He sighed and stretched. He leaned forward and bit my lower lip.
My heart flip-flopped.
"I guess I'd better go, then."

I wanted Carter to stay in the car for one last kiss, but his dad was in the yard. "I'll text you when I get home. I love you, Carter," I told him as I pulled up. "I love you, too, Simon."
Carter smiled and jumped out of the car. His dad waved to me; he wouldn't if he knew I was his son's boyfriend. I waved back, and drove home.
Mum was setting the table. I grabbed the plates from her and laid them out. She piled pasta on them and sat down across from me.
"So besides faffing about with Carter, did you do anything today?" Mum asked.
"Well, Carter and I went to lunch with Jessie and her girlfriend at Mic's..."
Mum nodded approvingly, swallowing a bite of her pasta. "Man, Carter must be great in bed; you can't seem to stay away," Mum gave me a look.
"It's not like that at all. We've never done anything more sexual than snogging. It isn't about sex for us." I said, automatically getting defensive. Mum held her hands up, still looking slightly skeptical. There was a long pause.
"Has he told his parents yet?"
I shook my head. "No. No, he has not."

Done with everything for the night, I slid into a pair of pyjamas and a random t-shirt.
