"Tengen-Sama and the Star Plasma Vessel will merge in two days when the moon is full," Master Yaga told them. "Escort the girl and bring her to Tengen-Sama! If you fail, the repercussions could greatly affect society! Don't screw this up!"
With that, Yaga Masamichi had sent Seiran, Satoru and Suguru off on this mission. Seiran was confused and a bit disgruntled as she realised that she would be working while the full moon was approaching so quickly – it wasn't fair that her grandmother had sent her on this mission when she knew well that every single full moon had hurt her immensely ever since she turned fifteen.
And with the upcoming full moon, Seiran knew that she would be weaker than ever. She had always kept herself professional in front of her family, ever since the day she had gained consciousness within this world. But as soon as Seiran had reached the peak of her puberty, Anemone had told her that she would be merging her Cursed Energy with her as her time to take over came closer.
That had been what Anemone had told Seiran but even the girl knew that it was her own energy that was been fed upon to keep her grandmother alive. Yet Seiran could do nothing about it but keep on living with this reality – unless she wanted to curse the entire mankind to evil curses.
It was during such times that Seiran wished that her life was as reckless as Satoru's, who cared about no one and nothing, or as simple as Suguru, who was a strong Jujutsu Sorcerer from a small family.
"But for real..." began Satoru as he reached to buy himself a soda. "I get why the Curse-User Group Q is after her... but why does the Star Religious Group want to kill her?"
Satoru came bounding over to Seiran and Suguru, holding out a can of sweet strawberry soda for the black-haired girl, "Here you go, my love, you were feeling thirsty, weren't you?"
"What the Star Religious group wishes to do is continue to worship a pure Tengen-Sama," Seiran replied calmly, ignoring his casual behaviour. "Introducing the Star Plasma Vessel would make Tengen-Sama impure, in their opinion,"
"But the Star Religious group are Non-Curse Users," Suguru spoke up. "We shouldn't have to worry about them too much. But we do need to be wary of Q, it's suspected that they were behind..."
Suguru trailed off, his dark eyes turning to look at Seiran, which Satoru caught at once.
"Oh, behind Sei-Chan's father's death?" inquired Satoru. Suguru turned to look at him in surprise. "Well, it's true that this girl is the first suitable Plasma Vess-whatever since Manjushage Tenji but I doubt some wannabes like Q were behind that,"
Upon the casual way that Satoru had just commented on her father's death, Suguru had turned to look at Seiran but he found her completely unreactive. Not a single word had bothered her, it appeared on the surface, and Suguru had no idea how to uncover what she felt below.
Ever since Seiran had entered their lives, she had kept her feelings about her life as a Manjushage completely under a curtain. Her fate was admired and envied, and she was pitied for her past – yet never once had Seiran ever let them see what her real feelings about any of this was.
Manjushage Seiran was an enigma. She was professional and a perfectionist in every sense of those words, and she never let her emotions work up – except in presence of Satoru. But even Satoru could never tell what the supposed 'love of his life' was really thinking about.
"Anyway, it should be okay," continued Satoru, unfazed. "We're the strongest – that's why Tengen-Sama specifically asked us after –" He noticed Suguru making a face. "What?"
For a moment, Suguru remained quiet, waiting for Seiran to walk ahead of them to observe the location where she had informed them that they would be locating the girl before the black-haired boy turned to look at the white-haired one, his expression serious.
